Supportive Primary care

Hey everyone!  I am looking for a new PCP, specifically one who can be supportive of me as I go through this process.  I am in Gaithersburg and can get to Damascus, Germantown, Frederick, Olney, Rockville, anywhere in this area within Montgomery County would be fine.  Actually I'll even travel a bit further if someone is really really wonderful.  I do generally prefer female doctors but would consider a male.  My last doctor was fine for the entire six months I was doing nutrtitional counseling, then went completely crazy when I asked her for a recommendation letter for insurance.  :(

If life with your band sucks, you are not alone and it's not your fault.  Check out the failed lap band group!

I don't know any pcp's up your way.  Mine is in Hanover, MD and he, very willingly, wrote a fantastic letter of medical necessity for me.  It's really what got me the approval I think.

Who is your dr.  I am in Glen Burnie and my PCP and I don't get along at all!  He's a man's man and does not like me because I'm fat (you really need to lose weight, your too heavy - hear that every time).  He also won't allow kids in his office, yet I can't always find a sitter.  He won't even sign the health form I need for my new job (stating I am physically able to do the job - that's all he needs to do)

Anyway, I need to find a good PCP that will work with me and be supportive and understanding.  Thanks!

Hi,
I see Dr. Khetan at Rockville Internal Medicine Group.  It's off of Montrose Road.  I think he's great.  He's patient and  open.  I really like that he's never pressured me either way.  He recently asked "so we need to start thinking about what we're going to do long term about your weight loss, what do you think?"  I was amazed!  He (obviously) is male though.  I like the practice since it has a sleep clinic attached to it.  My surgeon will be out of Innova Fair Oaks though - Dr. Moazzez since I have CIGNA.  I haven't gotten to the recommendation letter but think he'd be cooperative.
Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I think I have found someone amazing: Dr. Hubbly at Comprehensive Primary Care.

I met her last week and she is amazing and took so much time talking to me, and discussing the whole thing with me. She's going to go through my records from other doctors too. She is awesome!!!! I am so thrilled, I was so nervous going in

I have a great female PCP who is VERY supportive of WLS... and knowlegeable about it as well.  Sadly she is in the Owings MIlls/Greenspring area but if you are interested her name is  Holly Dahlman.

I see Dr. Piyush Patel in Germantown; he also has an office in Silver Spring. He is a really caring dr, listens well, and was EXTREMELY supportive of my decision for surgery. His nurses are great, and while scheduling can sometimes be a *****allenging since he's also teaching at Georgetown, he has a female NP who you can also see.
