Recommend your doctor, please!
Hi Everyone!! I have thought about weight loss surgery for a very long time but I have just recently decided that I need to do this for myself. I just moved to the Baltimore area and I need your recommendations for a great surgeon. I'm still trying to decide between the lap band and the VSG but I'm leaning towards the VSG and I'd feel most comfortable with someone who has done a lot of these procedures.
Thank you very much and I look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks!!

I went with Dr. Cynthia Long at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
She originally had her practice in Silver Spring, then moved to Sinai. I was one of the folks that followed her there. I am very pleased with her and her expertise, not to mention she is completely down to earth. She is straight up and doesn't play around, I think she takes what she does very seriously. I have not met or been to any other seminars in Baltimore ( jus Montgomery county) but I know/heard of many great surgeons in the bmore area. People rave about Hopkins Bayview.
Good luck on your journey!! And welcome

Dr. Averbach performed Roux-en-Y GPB on me last month. His practice is so wonderful and so helpful! His office staff has two people who make it their business to know exactly what your insurance requires for you to get approval. There is a nutrition program, so all of this is not a surprise when you're done. And they follow up - boy do they follow up! This is a life-long process and they treat it that way. The nutritionists and the nursing staff are a encyclopedia of information and are all so very nice! Dr. A. is also very nice and extremely knowledgeable. St. Agnes Hospital, is also lovely. I didn't have fun with my surgery by any means - I was glad to go home, LOL:)! But they made it a lot more bearable!
