PLAYING THE WAITING GAME
Hello and welcome!
What I did was try to learn to change my eating behaviors to get me prepared for surgery.
I read a lot of books, I went to support groups and just spent time with my family.
Trust me at first it feels like it is taking forever but when you come to see 6 months will be gone and you will be saying wow that went fast. lol
Wishing you all the best in your journey.

Well, let me tell you protein drinks will taste totally different after you have surgery. The only protein that I tolerated before & after surgery is Body Fortress Vanilla flavor. Although chocolate was my favorite and after I had the surgery I would gag. So I have tried many different ones but the only one I really like is this one that is inexpensive. $15.00 for an almost 2 pound jug at Walmart.
At GNC there is a ready to drink protein called 50 grand slam. It is 50 grams of protein per can but it was $2.50 a can. I used to drink half a can for snack and the other half late after noon. But it got quite pricey and I stayed using Body Fortress.
There are some sites where you can order samples so you can try the protein before you invest money in them. I would suggest to try them after surgery. For now you should be taking protein to get your body prepared for surgery so you can heal and recover quickly.
The amount of protein that you should be taking in you would figure out by dividing your weight by 2 and then and 10 to your your total.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime.

I have actually been contacting companies and asking for free samples. On company Celsius sent me three cases of their drinks. So now I am devising a letter to send to more places explaing my situation and see if I can just get samples and some coupons. (watching extreme couponing...lol)
I have not gotten my protein pills yet but i need to hurry cause our NUT (nutritionist) told us to begin them now.

Protein pills? Wow I haven't heard of those. Tell me about it?
You can get all the protein you need by eating the aamount of grams you need on a daily basis. For example the amount you need you will calculate by deviding the amount of your weight by 2 and then adding 10 more grams. You can go on fitday.com or dailyplate or even sparkpeople.com and record everything that you eat and you will know if you are meeting your daily protein goal.
Take care and good luck!

6 months seemed like 3! Within my 6 months and even now while waiting for......the call, lol, I have been reading on OH but not everyday like I use to,making list of vitamin cost and where others have purchased and doing price comparisons, keeping notes in my spiral book about what to pack for the hospital. I will not be posting my update from the hospital but from home. I'm not needing to be on a computer every minute of everyday so I will post when I feel better afterwards. anyhoo, going to purchase everything on my amazon wish list such as measring utensils, books, water bottle and etc.
I know what i'm doing,I have it all planned-plans to give you the future you hope for.Jeremiah 29:11(The Message)

It took me 10 months to have my surgery from the time I went to the initial seminar. There is a lot to do to prepare and you have to keep an open mind that if there is anything additional that needs to be done along the way, it could delay your date...remember to be flexible and roll with the punches.
6 months of nutritional counseling is where the "6 months" comes from. But there will be other tests that will be ordered and have to be completed before your package is sent to the insurance for approval. The sooner you do these tests, the easier it is to deal with any delay.
I had a stress test that led to an echo that then led to a cardiac catheterization. This delayed my surgery by about 2 months itself. Having 3 blizzards in a row that year did not help the timeline either...so even the weather can affect your surgery date!!!
But I will tell you, by the time my surgery date arrived...I looked back and it seemed like time had flew by!!!
Keep on educating yourself. Learn as much as you can. Work on your mind just as much as you will be working on your body. Go to the support groups as much as possible.
Good luck to you and congrats on your journey! Before you know it, it will be surgery day. I am just about 1 year out now...these last two years seem like a quick blip to me now....it's gone by so fast.
