Plateau Blues
Its been awhile since I've been here, but ive Plateaued and need advice. Since you have all been through or will go through this . I figured id come home and see if anyone can steer me in the right direction. The Last 6 months has been very stressful and depressing. It kicked off when my oldest brother died of a heart attack in Sept. He was 4 years out ,but had went back to old habbits and packed most of what he lost back on. I scared to death that thats gonna happen to me.
On a happier note I did however see the plastic surgeon last week. Now he's submitting the request into the insurence.
peace

Hi Andy,
My deepest and sincerest condolences on the loss of your brother.
First of all let me congratulate you on the fantastic weight loss/ 293 pounds is a major accomplishment in such little time.
Your body is now trying to catch up because you have lost so much and so fast. I do want to suggest that you speak with a nutritionist. You might not be getting enough calories to lose weight. If your body starves then it will hold to everything. You will have to figure out the amount you need to consume and how many calories are you burning a day.
I did try the 5 day pouch test. You can google it online.
I did it for two weeks straight because I am a carb addict and I needed toi break the cravings.
Journaling what you take in is very helpful. You also need to consume a good amount of protein. It must be 1/2 the amount of your body weight plus 10 grams more. So for example if you weight 200 then you need to consume 100 grams of protein plus 10 grams more. 110 grams total.
You also have to make high protein meals and meals that helps with burnign those calories.
If you have any questions I am here for you. But I must say you will contact me a lot sooner throught my email address. [email protected]
Take care amigo!!

Andy-
My deepest condolences on the lost of your brother.
I sort of hate back peddling but I would like to share this with you... On a previous post to another member about joining Weigh****chers. I posted what my NUT told me not to join WW. I joined a few weeks ago to encourage my sister who had recently had a stroke. She would not join without me joining. My sister is very strong willed, but when it comes to food she make all the wrong choices despite all her health scares. She is not a candidate for WLS since she has history of circulatory problems including a quadruple bypass, leg graft, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a history of cancer.
My nutritionist warned me that WW put too much emphasis on food. But I found this to be extremely helpful because it added another level of accountability and awareness to the type of food choices that I made. I still put my protein first, but I discovered that I make better, healthier choices. The new point system is excellent and I am beginning to lost weight again.
Other things that I discovered by doing WW was I ate too much and too much of the wrong things. I've began to incorporates lower denser foods like lettuce and more leafy vegetables that I was afraid to eat. Although I only consumed the lean protein but I was afraid to add lettuce because some people with RNY have difficulty digesting leafy vegetables. I find the roughage keeps me regular. I am hoping to follow WW until I reach my goal to encourage and support my sister in her weight lost efforts.
I hope this is helpful.
Encouragement... you are a success.
