Univ of MD/Noel Stevens
I have to say I love having Noel as my nurse/guide/support/etc. with Dr. Kligman's office. She's fantastic!! I had yet another complication this last weekend where I spent 9 hours in the ER. It turns out to be an ulcer at the end of the pouch where it meets the duodendum. She knew right away what to do and told me step by step how I will feel withiin a few days and what will happen next. She was right on the money. I am feeling much better with very little pain now. I have to drink this horrible tasting syrup and double my nexium but I gotta do what I gotta do.
She also is sending me for an ultrasound tomorrow on my entire right side. I've been having pain and my ct scan showed something abnormal with the appendix. On top of that, my alkaline phosphatase has been chronically high the last few labs that have been drawn . She wants to check my gallbladder, liver and appendix. The labs could just be due to the low Vit D level but she wants to make sure.
She always responds right away to my emails or phone calls. She always know exactly what to do and you can feel how much she cares. She told me not to worry, if there is anything I need done (surgical-wise) whether it be my gallbladder or appendix...I already have a surgeon. Once he's my surgeon, he always will be my surgeon. And honestly, I wouldn't trust anyone else but Dr. Kligman. That was a huge relief for me.
If you ever have abdominal pain that just doesn't go away, please don't ignore it....this came out of nowhere!
To all you fellow WLSers who are with Dr. Kligman at University...you are in great hands!!!

Thank you for sharing this....I'm scheduled for my RNY on 4/5/11 with Dr. Kligman. These kind of posts definitely help settle my nerves. :o)
So far, the entire staff has been so wonderful! Noel is the best and you're right, she always returns calls/emails.
I hope you feel better and recover quickly!

Had my ultrasound today...liver, kidney, pancreas are all normal. No gallstones. But...they feel my gallbladder may not be functioning so I have to schedule a HIDA scan next to find out for sure. And the saga continues! (was good to hear that my liver is perfectly normal size now, not fatty anymore and in perfect condition!!)
