Distended bowel,,, what can you tell me about it?

Well,, it seems I have a distended bowel,, I am assumeing it is not too big of a deal as  I can't get into Dr Averbach 'till next Friday, this was found during a CT scan. Not a lot of info by googleing it.

Hi Tom,

Getting a distended bowel the reasons can vary. It can be food related, stress related, IBS or even Chrones disease.
You can be eating foods that causes a lot of gas and your colon gets irritated.  In order to find out what is causing your distended bowel your doctor will probably have write a food journal to see if the foods you eat are causing it.  Also when people have this condition stress will make this flare up.

Sometimes a scan can show a distended bowel and when your doctor does a further examination it might show that in fact it was not distended but just full of stool.

At any rate I hope it is nothing serious and just the latter.

When I used to work for Verizon I used to get chest pains and palpitations on the regular.  The micromanagement was killing me for sure. 

Just for now make sure to stay away from gassy foods just in case.

Why don't you talk to the doctor on call for Dr. A?  He or she will be able to advise you until you are able to get checked out.

here's the thing,, I have NO pain, or discomfort at all. My primary says she can't believe I have no symptoms!

VZ is worse than ever, we can't get ANYTHING we need. I am talking my 1st level tried to get us a CALANDER,, it got disapproved, she was told (by a director) to go to a web site where she could get FREE calanders,, that site is blocked by VZ. I can't even get PAPER for our copier-fax machine. Last ream went in Friday, when it is gone,, oh well  1st levels have been put on notice,, there will be no more RIF offers, get your numbers or be fired. Atleast two 1st levels that I know of by fact are now medicated by doctors. I do not know of ONE 1st level that is anywhere close to being happy with their job. It is horrible there now. It sucks that my benefits are great and I have a family to support, I would be gone in a second.

Last year in June when I had the hernia in the mesentery wall. I had a CT scan I wasn't diagnosed yet with the hernia but they said I had a distended bowel. When Dr. A checked out the films he said it wasn't distended terribly and that was not causing the pain I was claiming to have. When they did the exploratory surgery is when the saw that they needed to repair the hernia.  I just had some backed up stool.  I hope that is the case for you since you are not feeling any pain.

Did you call the doctor on call?

Verizon has gotten really rediculous. The benefits are great and the pay I miss that terribly but I now have my sanity and good health.... lol I definitely do not miss the stress.  When I went back to work for them Last March I busted my behind taking that three month training.  Passing all exams and commuting 1 1/2 hours from Charles Town, WV to Silver Spring MD at the Chesapeake building they didn't give a crap that I ended up in the hospital with this horrible pain.  Since I was only 3 1/2 months with them and had not finished the probation period they let me go.   Oh well better for for sure!  lol

I am sorry it is that bad over there.  I know they have been giving packages from left to right.  How long have tyou been working for them?

Went to see Dr A Friday, he wasn't overly concerned as I was having no symptoms. He also wasn't concerned about the Anemia or kidneys and told me to go on iron supplements. I had brought this up with my primary, but because this showed up all of a sudden, 18months post op, she was concerned. He contacted my Primary and advised her. He said go ahead with the endoscopy and colonoscopy, DAMN, anyway.
