1st day of the 5 day pouch test
I am so happy that the holiday season is now over. Whewwwww that was a rough one. I inherited the carb monster over the holidays and ingested too much coffee. I have decided to do the 5 day pouch test to get rid of the carb cravings that I have. I had been grazing all day long for the past 2 months and I need to stop myself now,
I am so depended on coffee as well. I went from 2 cups of coffee a day to about 4 or 5 which is not good. Because coffee will trick your body into feeling hungry.
So today I am limiting my coffee intake to 3 cups and slowly back down back to 1 or 2 a day. I hope I don't get a horrible caffeine withdrawal headache. If not I will have the other cup and then gradually cut away like 2 to 3 ounces out each day.
So I am doing great not hungry really but I have noticed that I am feeling a little dizzy here and there. But I know that is the carb withrawals.
I am posting this here to be accountable to myself. So I make sure to stay on track. I love some support as well. :)
Have a wonderful day on purpose!

Thank you so much for your support. Yesterday was a rough day! Boy I almost gave in last night but I held on. Today is a brighter and better day. Thank God!
How are you doing?

I am glad to hear that today is a better day. I am still new only 7 weeks out, but I constantly worry about whether this going to work. I am definitely having periods of head hunger especially when I smell food. Keep the good work up. I am not a coffee drinker, however, I was a diet Pepsi girl and I had to have a can every morning to start my day. Who would of thought I could function with out it.

You are so early out and we all have those fears of the surgery not working for us. But one thing that you need to focus on is that what you have is a tool. You are in control of your tool and you have to work your tool. I am 3 1/2 years post op and one thing I do know that when I start eating bad for what ever reason (I am an emotional eater) I sometimes think darn I guess this is it for me. I will be back to my own self before my RNY. But I give myself a swift kick on my own butt and I go back to basics to reclaim my confidence and to keep myself in check.
Before my RNY I was a Pepsi holic (not diet) I drank 2 to 3 liters a day. I had to quit drinking soda when I decided to have surgery. I also drank coffee but only 1 small cup a day. Then I began drinking coffee again like 6 months post op. But through out the past two years I have noticed that I have been depending more on coffee.
You are going to do wonderful, make the most of the first 18 to 24 months because it is easy to get rid of the weight but after that it requires lots of work to maintain it.
How much have you lost so far? Are you measuring once of month? It helps to measure so when you don't see the scale moving you see the inches going.
Best of luck on your journey.

I'm interested in seeing how the 5DPT works for you. I, too, have become a carb-junkie once again and am not eating as well as I should. I don't think I'm overeating, as the scale is still staying the same, but I am eating way too many "bad" carbs and I know eventually it will catch up with me. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Let me tell you it was rough yesterday. I was moody, I had a headache. I had to cave in and drink another cup of coffee. I even had a little bit of dizziness. I felt like crap and being a carb junkie had me paying for it yesterday. I almost caved in and said one slice of whole wheat with PB&J will not hurt! But I held back and said nope no way. My hubby Gino is doing the 5DPT too and he really encouraged me to hang on when it was looking grim for me.
I must say that so far I am doing so much better than yesterday. I am not dizzy, no headache yet and not hungry. The mental hunger really kicked my butt yesterday. But like I said to Linda today is ia better and brighter day.
I am happy to report that I have los****er weight in one day 5lbs 4 oz yay! I will be back to normal hopefully by the end of the week.
By the way I used to say the same thing I am not over eating because the weight is the same. But then it comes that time when your body is not going through the malnutrition phase anymore and girl it catches up quickly.
I will report daily to let you know how it's going. :)
Have a great day on purpose!

Thanks for asking ... my son will turn 21 in June ... and, ready, drum roll ... he has lost 201 pounds and is still losing. His RNY was in August 2009. He looks awesome and feels awesome. He is a junior in college and starts working this week as a fitness instructor at the college gym. Imagine that!
