St. Agnes and Dr. Averbach
I just want to publicly state how much I appreciate the kindnesses extended to me by the staff at St. Agnes hospital and by my surgeon -- Dr. Andrew Averbach. WLS is tough and recovery hurts. What makes it bearable is that there are people who come to check on you and that they do so with compassion and caring. The staff -- nurses, surgical staff, nurse techs, technicians, and janitorial staff (yes, they were great) -- was really excellent.
For those of you considering Dr. A, he is a man of few words but he cares about his patients. He checked in on me daily to track my progress and I appreciated his concern and attention.
Just putting this out there because I think it's easy to complain when something goes wrong and far less frequently do we give credit where credit is due.

I and many others have posted the same thing,,, what does that say? Dr Averbach and his staff are AAA+++. Now,, when you first meet Dr A you might say he seems a "little dry" but that is just who he is. He loosens up quickly,, is a top surgeon,, and a great guy. Lst January, I had severe abdomin pain, Primanry refered me back to Dr A, who suspected divevitites(sp) gave ME the option of medicine or hospital, recomended hospital, which I went right away, good news, (I think) was it was just a kidney stone.
Either way, Dr A was quick to act, included me in the decision making, and all turned ok fine.
