WELL,, I'm really begining to question,,,
my WLS.
So what is worse,
Over weight, diabetes, or dealing with anemia. Third round of labs were Friday, going for ultrasound of kidneys Monday, and have an appt with a specialist the day after we get back from vacation. Yea,, that is buzz killing my vaction. After all,, it is only $8 to $9,000 week. I don't even want to go and bring the entire family down. I have trip insurance,, so I could recoup some of the $$$$$. But El refuses to take the girls without me going. I really have no desire to go at this point, and my mood right now scares me,, the first TSA agnet that gropes one of the girls will **** me off to the point of wanting to do something that would get me into trouble. I am really regretting WLS at this point. From the info sent to me from the Dr, it looks like I could be facing shots every other week, that HAVE to be done by a DR, for the rest of my life. This really sucks.
Thanks for the vent.

Crash, I am sorry for all your pain. I think this is why I am so scared to make the leep for WLS. I hope you can find some peace & acceptance with your WLS. I also hope you go on the vacation. Maybe that would help you. The TSA stuff is not something I look forward to either. What a big mess. Why would uyou need shots? Is that B-12 or something else. I hope I am not being to nosy. Take care and hang in there. Have a nice holiday !

Tom,
I'm so sorry for your struggles. I wanted to mention to you about the scanners, the TSA stuff, etc. I travel for business sometimes as many as 5 or 6 round trips a month. I don't pay attention and get into the line with the full body scanner at BWI a lot. It really isn't a big deal. The reports about excess radiation, the demands for boycotts, etc. are really blown out of proportion. Personally, I'd rather go through the scanner than have a pat down, even if I had to go through it 12 times over the month. And many of the airports don't even have ONE yet, let alone enough to up the odds that you definitely will go through it. At BWI, there is no more than one at each security checkpoint in A, B and D terminals, and that's because it was a test airport. I hope it won't worry you too much and that you can try to enjoy your vacation and deal with things when you return.

So sorry to hear that you're going through all of this! And yes, this is exactly the place to come vent. And I know it's frustrating, but even if you do have to get a shot every other week isn't that better than a couple a day with diabetes? Not to mention the other co-morbitites that would also come with continued morbid obesity?

Hi Tom,
You can vent here anytime. I am so sorry you are having such a tough time. I know that some of us go through major changes and we get depressed. That happened to me and I quickly got help. I must say that the counselor I was seeing really helped me with the issues I was having. Later on I was feeling depressed due to some personal problems that I was going through and I went to my PCP and I was put on anti depressant medication. I must tell you that it has helped me a lot.
As for the anemia I hope and pray that you do not need the shots for the rest of your life. I would really try to stay positive. One thing that I have learned with my RNY is that everything that I couldn't absorb before is quickly absorbing now. The intestines were bypassed and the the one that is there adapts and starts doing what the other intestines were doing. It took about two years for me to see the difference. What I am trying to say is that perhaps soon you will be able to absorb iron better. Have they tried the meds by mouth first? DVR put me on Vitron C and it really helped me. I no longer take it anymore.
I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. If you ever want to talk I am here for you.
Take care and God Bless!
