I've Been Approved
Type of procedure - I don't have a clue.
Initially, the NUT was talking about RNY. However, during my 6 month requirement, I lost enough weight (40 lbs) to be considered for Lap Band.
I''ve read up on both. Still don't know.
Once I meet with the medical staff, I'll know more.
Also, you will be there before you know it.
I attempted this journey in 2007, but chickened out at my last NUT appointment. I just wasn't ready for it. Three years later and a lot more research, I now know that I am.

Congrats on your approval and that you're no longer a lurker! Now's the time to do your research on which surgery you want and which is best for you. You didn't mention the Vertical Sleeve, you should look into the benefits, the risks and check out the forums of each surgery as well as which your insurance pays for!
Best wishes on your successful weight loss journey! Stay strong... stay the course, research all your choices and the choice will be easier to make!
And yeah, "Lurk no more" and ask questions since you know this site and your doctor are the best places to ask!
