Where'd everybody go?

Hello, it's been ages since I've been on OH and even longer since I've been on the Maryland board.  Looking at the thread counts, it seems that I'm not the only one.  How long has it been that way?  What happened to Tia, Aaron, Nicole, Heather and the rest of the "old" gang?  Hope everybody is doing well and enjoying their new bodies.  I know it's a lot of hard work and dedication and how hard it is to maintain that new lifestyle once you get to, or even close to, goal.  You are all to be commended.  Just wanted to stop in to say "hi".   Take care.

I'm around, Andy.  There was a lot of drama on here a while back and it was made pretty clear that some people would like me (and some of my friends, or "followers" as they were called) to disappear.  So we backed off and pretty much keep to ourselves.  I still keep in touch with the people who are dear to me, mainly through FB and private emails.

Plus, my Dad's been pretty ill and we have a lot of stressors at home, so I haven't had much "recreational" time, yanno?

Hope all is well with you.

Hi Tia.  So sorry to hear that things turned sour around here.  This was a nice alternative for me after being on the PA board so long.  This board was a very active one for quite a while and there was never a shortage of nice things being said and some real support.  It's so sad that things couldn't remain the same.  At least you are still in touch with some of your true friends.  I've always considered you to be someone I could relate to and enjoyed conversations with you here.

So sorry to hear about your dad, hope things get better.  You only get one set of parents and I lost my dad years ago.  I will keep your dad in my prayers.

Things are okay with me.  Struggling with the "eating right" part of my maintenance, but staying in pretty good shape physically.  Glad to see you're still around.  Take care Tia.

There were some nasty things said/done, of which I, too, was guilty, but the difference is - I owned my drama and apologized for it.  And now I'm done with it.

There is STILL support and encouragement here for those who need it.  I lurk more than post, but still keep a finger in from time to time.

Dad's been through the ringer this year, and we're still trying to address some issues, but yeah, it's been pretty rough on all.

I did, however, meet an AMAZING man (right here on OH), who now lives with us, and once he finds a job and things settle down, we'll be married.  Probably not for at least a year, though, too much else going on!!!!

The "eating right" NEVER ends for us - or shouldn't, anyway.  Since Jon's a "loser," it's great having built in support for each other!!

Andy, so glad to see you. You look great ! I am sure you must be happy. This board was a great place to come for support but for me personally I was talked about for no reason. I only have meet up with one person from the board. I have been accused of being bipolar and mentally ill. Wow it is amazing that we had an undercover psychiatrist on the board. I feel that before you talk negative or trash someone you should clean your own house first !  After all this board was for support. I am very sorry for the new people who come here for support. I do still hope there are some here that will be honest and help others. This weight loss thing is a tough battle and we all can use all the help we can get. I wish you well and hope you have nothing but success. I have learned one thing and that's what goes around comes around ! Take care and SMILE !

Hey Julie,
Good to see you around.  Thanks for the compliment.  As you know, this journey will last the rest of our lives and obesity is something we will all fight until God comes to take us with Him.  Until then, all I can do is try to follow what I have learned as close to the vest as I can and try to help others along the way.  Sorry that things apparently have turned into Romper Room time around this place.  Not sure who some of the newer posters are on here, but it was people like Tia and Aaron and Cira and Nicole and Heather and countless others that kept it alive as one of the more active boards on all of Obesity Help.  It's extremely depressing to log on and come over to see posts that are 2-3 WEEKS old still on the first page.  I hope all is well with you and take good care.

Andy, I am unsure of what has really happened here. All I know is that I tried to support and encourage others. I am unsure why people sat back and talked about me. For what reason I don't know and I really do not have time for the games.  There were some nice people here and then bang it seems stuff blew up. It is so sad as we all need help and as you said this is a life long journey. All is OK with me I lost my Mom to lung cancer in March so it has been a hard year for me. I am trying to lose weight and still want surgery but I think I must get over my Mom's passing first.  Take care and I hope all is well in PA.  Julie

Andy,

It's a shame that the people that meant so much to this board (Tia, Darla, Cira, Moe and others) have been run off of this board, without them you see what a dead place this has become.  I have to admit the "Drama" on these boards is why I have pretty much stayed a lurker.

Hi Stephanie,

Yeah, it seems to me that there are just too many people that take things a little too far.  People need to stop and look in their address bar at the top of the screen and read what it says "http://www.obesityHELP.com!  Yes, I know I capitalized the HELP in it, but that was to just get my point across.  Hey, listen, I realize that not everybody is going to like and get along with everybody else.  But to air dirty laundry on an internet support board is a tad bit on the childish side.  I wish you nothing but the best.

Andy
