Bypass: cream of crab soup --yes or no
Hi there! Fellow Severna Parker here! I too used to love the cream of crab at Bill Bateman's. I'm about 5 months out and I've twice tried some really thick cream of crab and I didn't get violently sick per say, but I felt disgusting afterwards. I tolerate most foods very easily and perhaps this is my version of dumping...I just feel a little nauseous, like I wanted to lay down and sleep...mostly like crap. I don't like the way I felt afterwards and I don't think it was mental...I think it was physical. I don't see any issues with giving it a small try though. That's the only way to find out. It's probably not the best choice, as it is loaded with fat and very little protein, but hey...I tried it too. :) You might want to wait a while since you just had surgery.
Good luck! Hope to see you on the board often!

I love it too. I'm 3 years out and all I can do is try a teaspoon of it when my daughter orders it. ugh! Sorry to say. The fat kills me. It's just too rich for me. I work parttme in a restaurant and the Cream of Crab is by far the best soup we serve. I asked the Manager once how much butter was in it and he told me about 5 lbs. That was enough to keep me away. Good luck.

If you really love cream of crab soup, please do not try it. I tried CC soup when I was about three weeks out. It was wonderful but.... I got such a bad wave of nausea afterwards that I will never eat it again.
Try something a little lighter, maybe New England or a water based soup instead.

Not for me! It's just about the only thing I've had a reaction to so far (besides a bite of banana). My head immediately was hot and sweaty. That was probably at about 1 month out - maybe too early to try, but it was enough of a reaction that I won't try again. :) I've converted to Maryland crab soup, leaving the corn at the bottom of the bowl but thoroughly enjoying everything else. -margaret
