3 Years Out
Well yesterday I celebrated my 3 year surgiversary. Wow! 3yrs and 95lbs. Doesn't seem like a lot of weight to some of you but to me it is a great accomplishment. I'm only 5'2' and started at 225. So for me, that extra 95lbs was a burden. I couldn't move and I was always in pain. Sure, I never hit my 100 pound goal, but frankly, I'm satisfied with where I am right now. I'm 51 years old and I think if I got any smaller I might look a lot older - haha.
Did it solve all of my problems in life - heck no! Why do we think that it will? Am I still single, yep! Do I still have the same issues as I had before surgery, no, they are different now - ha. I do get noticed, so the issues are just different. At least I'm not invisible like I was before surgery. Is that a good thing? I don't know. Am I happier? Yeah. I think so. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.
Just being healthier is one step to making us all happier. The rest of my issues will heal themselves in time (and a lot of counseling - lol). Just know that it is so true what everyone says, this is only a tool, if you don't work it you will lose it. I gained last winter and I don't plan on doing it this winter. I have been working again with my Nutrionist, back doing journals, using a pedometer, protein drinks every day, paying attention to my vitamins, very diligent - you have to be for life. Don't forget it.
Good luck everyone!
