smoothie question...

I decided this week that I might have better luck getting protein in if I made fruit smoothies-
problem is that they're not turning out all that well.

I think, as weird as it sounds, that I might be doing something wrong? I added fruit, a little fruit juice and unflavored protein powder and then pressed the button.

It's all - fluffy? Not a very drinkable consistency.

I used fresh fruit - should I be freezing it first?

Any tips are appreciated!

Thanks!

I make smoothies sometimes. I use vanilla protein powder, milk, yogurt, frozen fruit, and a little bit of Splenda. I've also used orange juice to make them, but I like the consistency better with milk.

Thanks Brandi - do you add the powder before you blend?
I'm trying to figure out why they're so - frothy

I just throw it all in there and blend it up. I know if you blend too much they have a tendency to get frothy so I just blend them enough to get the fruit blended up.

I'm so glad you posted this Erica because I was just wondering about this very same issue earlier today. I use the Magic Bullet. I use one scoop of powder, 4-5 small ice cubes OR frozen fruit, 6-8 oz milk and sometimes some sugar free syrup (flavored) and they often come out so frothy. I find it gets a lot better when the fruit is frozen, but I'm thinking it's the blend time. So hard to know exactly how long. Thanks for asking.

I put everything in the blender cup and then put it all in the freezer for like 10mins.  Then take it out and blend.  Just that little bit of time helps keep the foam down and the smoothie more icy..... Good luck!
