Happy ONE Year Surgiversary Brian!
Today my husband is celebrating his one year surgiversary!
Hard to Believe it's been a year for him!
he's down 183 pounds
he's gone from a size 60 jean to a size 44 jean
he feels GREAT about himself now
whereas before surgery he could barely walk from the car to the door of the mall now he can do an entire lap around the mall. We've pretty much retired his wheelchair!
He's losing still, slowly... very slowly...
the doctor has asked him to please add some Carbs to his food... he's not eating enough!

Wow Nessa that's awesome. Congratulations to Brian for such an amazing outcome. Let him know I too struggled with adding carbs when they told me to, but am so happy I did. First, I missed them. Second it wasn't the slippery path to carb overeating h@ll that I thought it would be. And finally, it did make me feel a whole lot better.
It's an amazing thing this surgery. I can't imagine what it's like doing it together with your spouse - positives and negatives. I may find out soon as mine is considering it. Any advice you have on this subject would be appreciated.

Russel I truly believe that we would not have survived if only one of us had done it.
Bri is looking slimmer and slimmer every day as he adds carbs...
I'm pretty much done losing at this point (as the pictures from the conference showed me over the weekend) so now it's all about us figuring out how to make this a lifestyle forever and ever.
While our journeys have been similar they are still individual and different. I added carbs back much earlier, I also added exercise back in and bri only dabbles in it at t his point.
we eat differently so meals are interesting in that we spend a lot of time fending for yourself.

we had 180 degree different reactions to this surgery... it's been interesting to be support while not being able to commiserate most of the time... He doesn't need the Colace and Benefiber in fact he needs the other stuff more...
so while i get it for him, I don't really. I can eat sugar, he can't. I eat carbs like crazy... he's just adding them.. I got to doctors goal pretty easily, he's still 30 pounds from doctors goal and 40 from his.... I didn't stall till 11 months out he stalled at 6 months and has been stalled since then...
be supportive
be loving
be understanding
but don't expect the spouse to have the same experience you have....

Wow Nessa it's amazing. You know everyone's experience is different, but when there's this much difference under one roof, it has to make for some interesting times.
I am just thrilled that she's on the road towards what has to be a healthier life. Your lasty words are great and I promise to take them to heart. Thank you.
