I'll do the poofy skirt ... or many skirts. I have so many dresses saved up for occasions. Not saying I was expecting to be invited or nothing ;-)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

and GOOD LUCK to your dad through all of this!

 Tia,

So sorry about the rough year with your dad.  I can definitely relate... my mom died from lung cancer in 2001 and my dad had triple bypass this year.

Congrats on the new man.  How blessed you are!!!

Thanks so much, Kris!  Dad did the quadruple bypass back in 2005.  In fact, he's recovered extremely well from EVERY surgery he's had - like at warp speed!  The dialysis is pretty much kicking his butt right now, as are the undiagnosed GI issues.  It's mentally draining all of us, too - you know what that's like.  I hope your Dad's recovery has been equally uneventful.

And yes, I'm a very lucky girl - I'm surrounded by the best family and friends a girl could have, and now that I have the love of my amazing man, I truly have it all.  And I don't take one bit of it for granted!

Hugs,

Tia

Tia,
Thanks for the update. I suppose that was the PM I was suppose to get but blew up my messages. lol.  So sorry that you've had a rough time with your dad this year but glad to hear that you met a wonderful man.  I'm still in the dating scene which still sucks.  I decided to finally take a well needed moratorium from internet dating.  I was beginning to feel like I was playing defense for the Ravens. lol.  I too have had the year from hell and the worst of it has yet to come.  Let's just say believe it when they tell you that our bodies process alcohol a lot faster. It certainly doesn't take much.  I learned the hard way.  It only takes one stupid time.  So, since March I have already spent about $10,000 and I haven't even gone to court yet.

For those of you that are reading this and are judging me - stop.  Seriously, this could be you.  I didn't drink for at least a year after surgery.  I still only drink wine.  I never drink hard liquor or beer since surgery I can't do carbonation or juices well.  And I never drink and drive. But this particular evening, I was absolutely stupid.  I had a counselor appt, I was upset and had done a lot of crying, I went to a local bar afterwards, I met a guy who started buying me glasses of wine. I always water down my wine, a trick to slow down my drinking. Before I knew it I had 4 glasses of wine in 5 hours.  To the normal individual that would have been moderate drinking and would have blown a .08.  I blew a .16. Not good!  I'm not sure what the outcome will be.  I have the best attorney in Maryland but I'm scared. I have to get an Interlock in my car this week before I go to my MVA hearing and my court date is in September. Was it worth it - Heck no!  But damn that man was cute - lol! (See I still have a sense of humor).

Looking ahead to 2011.

Karen -

HFS.  OMG.  JFC.  I think that pretty much covers it.  Hey, you'll get no judgement from me!  I know firsthand how quickly alcohol affects us, and I'm sorry you had to find out the hard way.  I hope your attorney, if he hasn't already, has contacted your surgeon - I remember when I went to a support group meeting, DVR mentioned that he had to write a letter on a patient's behalf because she blew a record number on the intoximeter.  Food for thought, anyway.  I'm just glad that you didn't hurt yourself or someone else.

Just try to hang in there and let me know if you need an ear.

Keep me posted and we'll try to blow through the rest of 2010 together!

Hugs,

Tia
