Walk From Obesity! Sponsor Or Join Me!
On September 11, 2010 I will be taking part in the Walk from Obesity and I am asking for your support.
I would love for some the Maryland board folks to b able to sponsor me in the walk or even particpate. The walk will be taking place in Rockville, MD and is sponsored by a surgerons office - Dr. Barry Greene.
If anyone else is willing to walk please send me a PM. I would love to have someone to meet up with the day of the walk or even before!
The walk this year takes place on one year MY SURGIVERSARY!!! Those of you who know me from the site know that I had Lapband in September 2009. By participating in the walk it will be a good reminder to me where I was before surgery and where I am now. And what better way to celebrate a 1 year anniversary. The ability to have such a surgery has made a big difference in my life but has been a challenge from the very start. Unlike the stereotypical judgment of weight loss surgery “it’s the easy way out”, I can tell you nothing about the past year has been easy. I’ve made a lot of sacrifices with things most people take for granted. I’ve made a lot of changes and also a lot of mistakes. Sometimes I am on the Bandwagon and other times the wagon has run me over! J
By doing the walk it’s my way to support myself, those who have had WLS, those who plan to, and unfortunately those who just don’t have the option because of their insurance or financial situation. I have been overweight my entire life and despite having surgery I still have a long way to go. Thankfully I am in a much better place now than I was last year at this time. Since having my band in place I have lost about 80lbs and want lose another at least another 65 if not more if possible.
I figured what better way to bring attention to the Walk from Obesity but to post on OH. If you can't walk, if Rockville is too far, or if you would just rather donate, of course I would welcome any fellow people on the board to sponsor me in the walk in honor of me, yourself, and others.
No amount is too small. My goal is to raise only $1000.00 but I think with the support of other people who have had surgery, are having surgery or just hear for support, I can certainly surpass this amount.
Tax deductible donations can be made directly toward my goal at the link below. Please type in my name to take you to my page to make a donation.
Thanks in advance for your support.
I will keep everyone updated on the money I raise and also the prepartion for the walk and of course the big day!
Best Regards,
Nikki
