Just got home from LONG hospital stay........

well for those of you who already know, I had plastics on July 12. I had a thigh lift, tummy tuck, and breast lift. The surgery went well and I was pleased with the results. I had a one night stay, going home the next day. I had a home care nurse who visited me every other day......which is where my story begins.
My thigh lift incision were in my groin area, which we know is moist, and very tender. After 3 days, I felt as if something wasnt right. I had my family look at my incisions, and they said they looked weepy, but ok. I showed my home care nurse, and was told "Great, they look great!". I believed her. Two days later, my husband called the doctor because he was very concerned with the amount of drainage.....I had no fever, no out of the ordinary pain, just alot of drainage, odor, and fear. The home care came yet again, and reassured me that the incisions were "perfect".......... all the while my husband was talking to the surgeon who said to come  the next day to be checked out.
So up bright & early the next day. I get to Bayview & meet with the Resident, who looks me in my face, and says " why didnt you come sooner Mrs. Johnson. You are being admitted for emergency surgery"......... WTF did you just say?!?!?!?!?! Apparently, my home nurse wasnt 100% sure what an infection in a groin incision looked like. I now had a raging infection.
Long story short, 5 surgeries later, a blood transfusion, and alot of tears.....I am home. I think I have a new found faith in God, being as close to death as I got, made me re-evaluate my faith.
Thanks to all who have been by my side......for all of those who are being treated by a home care nurse.....please be involved & stay on top of your care!

Tia......
       You, speechless???? LMAO, just kidding!
Yes, this has definitely changed my way of thinking......and my trust for the medical profession! I cant understand how this woman who was a RN and trained for home care, whi*****luded wound care, could let me get that infected! I do take blame as well tho, let me clarify that. However, I TRUSTED the nurse.....a lil too much apparently.
Being home is sooooo nice! I took out the weed whacker today & whacked the 2 inches of hair off my legs & pits! Talk about gross! LMAO
Its hard tho, Lizzie is working fulltime, Joe is working fulltime, so that leaves poor Kels to take care of me! I feel soooooo bad! I try not to ask for much........but a girl needs her protein!
Jilly has been a God send! She really has been there for me & my family since this began.
Thanks for the words of love!
Keep in touch!
PS.......how the hell have you been?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Love-
Hojo

Wow, I am soooo sorry that you had to go through all of that. Just when you think that you are at the end of this journey, this happens...damn!  That really stinks!  I hope that your recovery is quick and that you are back on your feet in no time. Karen

OMG Heather, I am so sorry you have been through so much. That nurse should lose her job. Thank heavens for Joe and the rest of your family. I am glad you are on the mend. I wish you well and I hope that your recovery is uncomplicated from here on forward. I am so glad that you have had Jilly to help you. That is one big blessing. Take care and good luck.
