Ok great, this is really wonderful to hear all the positive reviews about him.  My husband has his consultation in less than a month so excited for him

most of the rooms are not private but they try NOT to give you a roommate. I did not have one nor did my hubby and not only was I allowed to stay the night with him when he had surgery I was encouraged to sleep in the extra bed and given pillows and blankets.

I had Dr Singh in April. I love him, all of the doctors at St Agnes are under the "Bariatric Center of Excellance". Dr Singh seemed more compassionate to me, so that is why I chose him. But everyone that I know that has had Averbach loves him too. I think either doctor will be fine. As for St Agnes, I did not have any problems at all. If you go to my page it will tell you all about the stay there. The only issue right now is that they are in the process of moving the floor and so stuff is torn apart. But the staff was very efficient, and I never had any issues except in the recovery room where they thought I was lying about pain. But on the actual floor they were on top of everything! Good luck!

I am a Singh patient but my best friend is a patient of Dr. Averbach. In addition I have spoken to him a couple of times at the annual Christmas party/bariatric reunion. To me, the guy has the personality of a carrot (no offense...he's just...dry) but a nice guy and a great surgeon all around.

I notice his patients tend to get SUPER SKINNY super fast. I dunno if he bypasses more intestine, makes a smaller pouch or what. But I've not yet met a patient of his that didn't make it to goal in a time frame that made me...um...jealous.

I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Averback on 8/9. Check out my profile page for my detailed review of his office and him.

I agree with Nik that yes, Dr. Averbach has a personality of a carrot - that's why I didn't choose him to be my surgeon and went with Dr. Singh.

When I got banded, my hospital roommate had gotten her RNY at the same time from Dr. Averbach, and he didn't seem to have bedside manners, he was more business like.  Are you doing okay, okay - I'll be back later - type of bedside manner.

I absolutely love Dr. Singh - and though he has an office in Howard County, he's well worth the drive.

Either way, yes, St. Agnes does need a little redoing - but why dicker with the hospital issues when we've got our own to deal with?  And the fact that we are laid up in there after surgery should only matter and that we've finally embarked on the journey....right?

..... and beneath the carrot skin is a very genuine, caring, witty and skilled surgeon who truly cares about you as his patient.

You cannot go wrong with Dr Averbach. He seems a little "dry" when you first meet, but he loosens up pretty quick. TOP NOTCH surgeon, and program.
