Anyone have any first hand experience with him, his staff, or St Agnes Hospital?

Just got back from the St. Agnes yesterday.  Singh did my surgery but he's partners with Averbach -- I liked Averbach when I saw him for the seminar, but Singh has an office out in Howard County which was more important.  St. Agnes is an old hospital, but the staff were nice enough and you don't stay in that long ... overall I had little to complain about the experience.

A friend of mine had surgery through Sinai.  And I had dealings with Hopkins --- it all seems the same to me.  Good luck.

Congratulations!  How exciting for you :-)  Thanks for responding.  Howard County is that closer than say Baltimore would be?  We live in St Marys county and would like to find a nice competant surgeon... but would prefer that we didnt have to drive 3 hours away either.  Dr Averbach, Singh, and Rueden are all covered under our insurance so we can go with either one.

As I previously mentioned, I'm in Calvert County and the drive to Dr. Averbach's office is about an hour for me.  Sometimes less depending on traffic.  Take Route 4 to 301 N to 695.  Dr. Averbach's office is just a few exits once you get on 695 (Balt. Beltway).  Not a bad drive at all.  St. Agnes is  only a few miles from his ofc in Catonsville.

I had surgery at St. Agnes, but Dr. Singh was my surgeon as well. St. Agnes was okay, but the surgeons more than make up for the mediocrity of the hospital itself. I adore Dr. Singh and highly recommend him. His staff was also great to work with.

You are not too far from me.  I live in Calvert County.  Dr. Averbach was my surgeon and also my son's surgeon.  My surgery was in May 2009, and my son's surgery was in August 2009.  I have lost 125 pounds, my son has lost 183 pounds.  We are both RNY patients.  I adore Dr. Averbach and his staff; however, St. Agnes leaves a lot to be desired.  My experience with the bariatric nursing staff was not a good one, but perhaps they were just having a few bad days.  I stayed with my son in the hospital to oversee the nursing staff and he seemed to have a much better experience.  I highly recommend Dr. Averbach -- he is one of best surgeons in our area to perform the RNY.  Any other questions, just let me know.

I'm with Dr. Averbach on this one!!!!! He is totally awesome. He is very much a caring and considerate doc, not to mention he is the Director of St. Agnes center of Bariatric Surgery dept. He has a "Center of Excellence", which is not easy to get and has done well over 1100 Bariatric Surgeries. Nothing but great things to say. Good luck in your journey.

I chose Dr Averbach to do my revision surgery. Im in Calvert...the drive isnt too bad.  The drive isnt too bad. I had a dr in Woodbridge for my band...same distance mileage wise, but the drive to Catonsville is nicer. I really like Dr. A. there was something about him.

I love, love, love Nancy too, the NUT at the office. She is wonderful!

I havent been to St Agnes...so I cant say much about the hospital allthough from reading here looks like they could use some help.

I guess the rooms arent private then?? hmmmm...dont like the thought of that too much, but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. I didnt sleep at all when I got my band and I cant imagine having someone in a bed next to me
