Crossed Over
I finally understand why folks refer to post-surgery as crossing over or being re-born ... and I've joined the ranks. I'm SOOOO happy. No complications, TMI WARNING --- though a fair amount of blood in the small toilet, which I was told was to be expected. AllieRN WAS right about the toilets. My experience at St. Agnes was really positive. My wife stayed with me a lot of the time, so I wasn't relying on the nursing staff, but whenever I needed something, they were very responsive. Dr. Singh was great and the residents were kool.
Immediately after the surgery there was some serious pain and discomfort, but the nurses were proactive about pain management -- so don't be shy hitting that PCA pump. As time went on, I needed it less. I was also surprised just how fast I was up and walking -- and without a lot of discomfort. By the second day, I really wanted to walk ... it felt good to keep my body moving.
I came home yesterday. It's really been a whirlwind week. I'm so glad to be out of the hospital. I have been walking and hope to go to the gym tonight for a quick spin on the treadmill (the humidity outside SUCKS).
Well that's it for now. More to come.
