Ubiversity Of Maryland Patients
My insurance certainly accepted the 6 month diet provided by NUT with UMM. I completed the 6 months of nutritional counseling in early September, was contacted by mid to late September (about 2-2.5 weeks) that I was approved by insurance and could have been scheduled for surgery within a month, but had to postpone it by 2 weeks due to work issues. They were great with arranging the pre-op appointments all in the same day - Ultrasound, Chest X-ray, Physical, Lab work, Pre-op class/test. They also have a monthly Support Group on the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center at 7PM that is good to attend both before and after surgery.
Hello, I have Dr. Lo Menzo also. My last Nut. appt. was July 2. I asked the same questions and your insurance will except the 6 month Nut. Appt. from ummc and as far as time for the office to submit for ins. approval it seems to take about 2-4 weeks :( insurance approval takes about a week, and your surgery will be about a month from the approval day. I think mine will be around end of August - mid Sept. If you look on the 2nd page of the Maryland forum read " approved and nervous" by Melissa L. She has Lo Menzo also and you can read what she told me when I asked her the same question. I have Carefirst/ Bluechoice who do you have?
Hi Cindy,
I did the 6 month diet plan with UMMC. Last NUT appointment was June 30th. My approval came back in 1 week from being told it would be submitted. Surgery is scheduled for August 19th. Would have had my workshop and pre-op tests next Tuesday but my daughter is having her gallbladder removed that day. Can't be at two hospitals at the same time.
