WLS/Size friendly primary care doc around Catonsville?
I've lost over 100 lbs, but I am still very heavy (around 300), and my DH is a bigger guy too. We've found that our PCP has been...not very understanding. She's obviously never had a weight issue, and she acts like being fat is an intellectual problem. Not cool.
Does anyone have reccomendations for a good PCP who is positive about WLS and also not a jerk about overweight patients? We live in Catonsville and work in Glen Burnie, so anyplace between those areas would be good, or even Columbia or Ellicott City would work.
Thanks!

I love Dr. Usha Vemulakonda... She is at Geipe Rd off of Rt 40 - I believe that is Catonsville... :) She is part of the St. Agnes/Seton Medical Group. She was VERY positive about my WLS - I started seeing her just after my 6 months of recorded dieting with my old PCP who left her practice - and the new doctor who took over sounds just like yours! So I left and decided to find a new PCP.
I literally tossed a coin to see who I would call when it was time to find a new one and then took the first appointment I could get (I was on schedule to have RNY ASAP if I could get a primary care to write a letter....)
Dr. Usha is currently taking new patients. If you want her information:
700 Geipe Road Suite 200
Catonsville, MD 21228
(410) 368-8750
One of the things I like is how fast she gets you in when you need something - I called on Wednesday and my appointment is today... I hate doctors who cannot see me within a few days - she has been known to give up lunch to see a sick patient who does NOT need to wait. When I had complications of my WLS during the surgery, she returned phone calls on a vacation (Friday night) and came into the hospital to see me on Sunday when she got back in town even though she does not do hospital rounds... She also called and checked in every few hours with my parents whlie I was in ICU...
