Hi,

I'm kinda new to the forum.  I've been surfing around for a couple of months.  I finished my clearances and had my last nutritionist appointment yesterday.  I'm anxiously awaiting the call saying everything has been submitted.  :o)

I was wondering if anyone has a flex spending account with their insurance and has used it to buy your vitamins and protein shakes.

You have to get a letter of medical necessity from your doctor to submit to your FSA.

Hi Joy,

I moved years ago from a Flex to a Health Saving Account.  I recently discovered that the feds are no longer going to allow payment from the HSA for any OTC drugs.  It may be that the change will occur for FSAs as well.  Worth checking into.

It's my understanding that Terri is correct.  To the best of my knowledge, once the changes go into affect, we cannot use FSA for vitamins and OTC meds.
