I have Dr. Lo Menzo also. My last Nut. appt. is this Friday.  I too feel the same as you. How long after your last Nut. appointment did it take for the office to hand everything into the insurance and get approval? After the approval is it about a month for surgery? I too have people telling me the same thing but if you do the research you don't hear about people dying. This site makes me feel alot better about things.

My last nutrition class was on May 7th. I got a call from Janice Bryant about a week ago stating that my surgery will be on July 26, 2010. I have to complete pre-op test on July 13th, then I meet with Dr. Lo Menzo on July 21st. It take about another 2 - 3 month before you get your surgery. It's a little frustrating waiting, but I think it'll all be worth it. Yes, I'm very thankful for this site!

Sorry to drive you crazy, but it sounds like it took alot of time between your last Nut. appt. till your approval. What insurance do you have? It is just nice to talk to somebody who has the same Dr.

It's perfectly fine. I have United Health Care. I don't think it was UHC that took the longest, I believe it was UMMC submitting my information to the insurance company. Yes, it is very nice talking to someone who has the same doctor. We definitely need to keep in touch. I'm here if you need me!! :)

The only regret I have is that I didn't to it sooner!!!!

good luck! u r young so the chances of anything really bad happen are alot lower. the surgery was a life saver for me. I would do it a million times over if i could. do not allow people who are uneducated dictate your decisions. there is always the chance for complications, just like anything, but the rewards are so great! plus you have a wonderful resource here. feel free to ask us any questions. we have all been there.

Thank you Nicole! I really appreciate it. I will keep you up to date as the surgery gets closer. How much weight have you lost since your surgery?

I lost 110 total and that is w/ me being honest not the best wls patient. if i had actually stuck to the rules i would have lost alot more. I have aobug 60 more to go before I am plastic surgery ready and have made strides in that direction 2.5 years out. although i never got to goal, i feel so so so much better. I used to sleep ALOT and had no energy to do stuff. now i'm bouncing off the walls. it takes awhile to get used to feeling completely different. I look different too. LOL

Nicole,

You look great!!!! 110lbs is alot of weight. I feel exactly how you used to feel. I'm so tired and I don't want to do anything. I feel like a bump on a log!!!! I'm too lazy to have a five year old so I'm looking forward to this life change. I know I can do it and I know it's going to be challenging at times, but I'm determined to go full force. Keep in touch!!! Thanks again for all the advice!!! :)
The only regret I have is that I didn't to it sooner!!!!

Ok Melissa fantastic and congrats you are taking the first new step to a new you ...yep I said a new YOU. You just have to tell people that you are doing this for you and you only ( dam I use you alot LOL ) anyway make it short and sweet to them with it and let it go. I am getting ready to have my second weightloss surgery but I am getting the sleeve on July 19th which is what I wanted in the first place and my insurance company turned me down 3 times for it so I had to settle for the lapband. I am nervous also all over again for the third time because that includes the removal surgery also. So listen to your heart only and nobody else and you know the funny thing of it all is the people that are ragging on us have a weight problem also so I think a little of it is jealousy. So go for it girl and keep us informed and welcome to the Maryland boards.

Thanks a lot!! That really means a lot to me! Yes, those people who are ragging on me are overweight! I believe it's definitely jealousy!! There's nothing to be jealous about. I'm stepping out on faith and I'm ready for this change. I know it's going to be challenging at times, but it's going to be sooooooooo worth it! Good Luck to you! I'm so excited for you that you're getting exactly what you wanted!!! I thought about getting the sleeve, but I changed my mind. Keep in touch and keep me posted after you get your surgery!!!
