Ok, been battling kidney stones for 5 weeks.  Finally had 2 surgeries in the past 2 weeks (the latest on Wednesday) and haven't had a BM in a long while.  I have been on Vocodin for all of this time (and am still on some, though not as frequently).

Here's my question... with everything I am taking, why still no BM?

-Miralax once per day
-3 Colace
-2 Magnesium
-Protonix Pearls
-Daily suppositories (even did an enema)
-Lots and lots and lots of water
-Occasional MOM

Ideas???

When I had lumbar fusion in 2001, I was so costipated from the morphine pump,, it took some drastic measures,,, I had perscription laxatives ect,,, finally it took a perscription enima to break things loose.

Kris,

Please don't delay on this.  One thing I was told by a nurse when I was hospitalized this spring for 5 days for stone(s) in my common bile duct is that surgeons don't generally think of the fact that narcotic pain meds cause such great constipation, and don't remember to prescribe any softeners, et****il the patient is experiencing symptoms.  It certainly sounds like you've done everything you can do to get moving.  You may just be so impacted now that manual disimpaction is the only cure.  The longer you wait, the worse it is.  I speak from humiliating experience.

Good Luck.

Terri

you need to call the doctor... if you haven't gone there could be a blockage.

I take
2 colace daily
4 mag oxide (400 mg each)
benefiber
drink enough fluids
eat good fats
get enough fiber
and still now and then need an enema....

FYI, everything is "good". Finally this morning. I think getting ureteral stents out yesterday helped. Thanks for all of the concern and info!
