anyone in the Silver spring or Columbia area?

hey, i just had RNY with Dr. Lin in DC at the GWU Hospital. I am 1 week out.  I have been looking for a local support group or just a buddy in my area. I am 19, and go to a local college in this area.

 hey! i feel great, like nothing even happened. I just ate 2 ounces of oatmeal after about two weeks of clear liquids. I started going back to the gym yesterday, so i think i am back on track!

Hey! I live in White Oak (Silver Spring) and I go to Montgomery College... I'm not 19 but we had our surgeries the same day WOOT!

how are you doing? i just started pureed foods today. how much have you lost?

I'm in Ellicott City and if you need anything, feel free to PM me.  I am over 2 years out but can help any way I can.  How did you do with the oatmeal?  Not sure if you did this, but, make it with skim milk - it adds protein. Us oldies know a lot of the tricks to slip in protein where we can.  Use us.  If you ever want to walk around one of the tracks or lakes in Columbia, let me know.  Good luck.  I'm sure you'll do great!  Karen

just wanted to welcome you to the board. I live in harford county so not close to you. i would focus on eating mainly protein at this point. oatmeal is nice but has no protein in it. unless you mix it w/ protein powder. some people do that. good luck!

I work in Silver Spring and live in Gaithersburg.  I'm not an RNYer but oh how we all go through many of the same motions post WLS.

Hi Olivia!  I'm in Silver Spring and we have a Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)  Information Meeting and WLS Post Op Support Group at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring! 

Our meeting nights just changed to the 1st and 2nd Mondays and the 4th Wednesday.  Info meeting starts at 6 PM and Post Ops are asked to introduce themselves to the pre-ops and give your stats and advise and maybe answer a question or two.  Then when the Dr that is presenting gets there we move over to the next meeting room for our Post Op Support Group (usually 6:30ish).

But because of July vacations, we'll only have a post-op meeting July 12 (No Information Meeting) and an Info Meeting and  Protein Tasting at our Post Op on July 28.  I won't make the 28th though, will be recouperating from Hip Replacement Surgery!  (I may still be up on the 8th floor!)

I'm in Gaithersburg. I really want to meet people who are younger and have had surgery. I went to a support group but everyone has grandkids and a whole different set of issues. I can't relate to anyone there!
