Congrats on the 30 pounds....thats great.
You HAVE to get in your protein, theres no questions there. The Isopure is more of a water based....you can get it at GNC. Also the Syntrax Nectars have more flavors that mix well with water. The only protein that I TRUELY liked was the Body Fortress from WalMart, however I mixed it with milk. You can also mix the protein powders in yogurt, pudding, and cottage cheese. There is also a chicken broth protein that is yummy.
My surgeon allowed me to swallow pills, so you may want to ask your surgeon if he or she would allow you to swallow pills.
I know some of the things we have to do after surgery is hard & even yucky, but you have to do it....... you have to do these things to stay healthy....... you have fought long & hard to get this far, dont screw up now........ Good luck!

have you tried any of the ready to drink protein shakes? yes, they are a bit pricier, but I found/find them much easier to tolerate. I like the Pure Protein and EAS Carb control light.

I couldn't stand protein shakes for a while. I ended up buying a protein powder that's very odorless and tasteless and adding it to my water all day long. It's called ProCel, only has about 5 gms protein per tablespoon, but when I would add a tablespoon to every 2 glasse sof water, it added up through the day. http://www.globalhp.com/procel.html

Also, don't worry right now, your surgery wasn't that long ago. I didn't start getting all my protein and calories in till a couple months down the road. Even now, some days, I don't get the calories in.

There's also a liquid protein supplement that has 16 gms of protein per tablespoon. It comes in orange and grape flavor. Now, it's not the best tasting but in my very humble opinion, it was easier to swallow 2 tablespoons every morning and get 32 gms of protein than try to drink a whole shake. This one's called LiquaCel. http://www.globalhp.com/liquacel.html

As you can see, they are both sold by the same company. I just clal them and place an order over the phone. A certain amount and they even do free shipping. You can get sample sizes form them too.

I don't know where you live or work but I have both of these if you wanted to meet up at lunchtime someday and try them.

I could not stand the protein shakes then I found the powders from BariactricEating.com.
They mix with 4 ounces of water and most are very tasty.  I really like the ice cream sandwich and peanut butter cookie.  Each drink has between 25-30 grams of protein.  They have had some trouble keeping their stuff in stock lately but for me it was a life saver.  Even the thought of drinking any of those other shakes makes me queasy. I had purchased a fortune in ready to drink shakes since we were going to be out of town for my surgery but just gave most of them away last week.  The downside to these now that I am further out is they do not keep me full for as long as I seldom use shakes now anyway.  Almost all of my protein comes from food at this point.   Also you might talk to Dr. Schweitzer's office.  I started taking pills (pain killers) in the hospital and was taking my vitamins in pill form by three weeks.  I did use Calcet Citrate chewables for calcium for a while until I started getting into higher calorie numbers.  Now I take one Calcet a day and two sets of Citrical Petites a day (whoever named these damn things petite needs to get their eyes checked).  Good luck.
