Revision Surgery with Dr. Vanguri
I had an RNY and am now looking to have a DS, I understand Dr. Vanguri does these revisions. Has anyone in here had it done by him, can you tell me about your experience, how many days in the hospital etc. I have had all the clearances done and should hear from Aetna this week and be approved but Current Surgeon Dr. Greenbaum who had said he was scheduling 6 weeks out on surgery dates from approval is now telling people FEBRUARY, I need to find someone not far from home, do not want to go to CA cannot afford it, but since I am in DE, MD would be great, please help any info would be appreciated, I am going to call his office tomorrow. But would like to hear from someone who had had it done. Thanks!
Linda

Good morning, Linda,
I can't help you with your question about the DS, but I wanted to ask you a question about living in DE. Are there many WLS support groups there? Thinking about moving to Frankford, DE near Bethany Beach in a couple of years. Just wondering how you like living in DE.
Good luck with finding your surgeon.

Hi, I think you asked this question on the DS board as well, right?
I have no personal experience with Vanguri, but he is not known as a DS surgeon, much less a DS revision surgeon.
Also, I personally know one Vanguri patient who would not go to him again. She had RNY and a lot of problems after surgery and he told her it was normal, fortunately she's okay now, but she never got proper nutritional guidance out of his office eitehr. I also know of another RNY patient of his who could not keep food down and was revised (RNY "undone") within a year of her original RNY. These are not normal.
Best wishes in your journey.

Hi Linda,
I am scheduled for a revision to DS with Dr. Vanguri on 7/26/10. I had my original RNY in April of 1998 and did well. I had initially lost 100 lbs. but gained 55 back and do not want to get back to where I was. Personally, I think Dr. Vanguri is a wonderful, caring surgeon and would not think of going anywhere else. Of course, this is just my opinion. Dr. V has a wonderful way with his patients, making them feel as if he is really taking time to listen to all their concerns. I also think his office staff are wonderful as well. In fact, Bev has been there since before I had my initial surgery. Please let me know if you have any questions. I would be more than happy to answer them.
