I've been doing it socially for a while now and the buzz is fantastic!! Yep Beer is out. White Wine is my new best friend. You get a quick buzz that doesn't last too long and no hangover that's the best part.

Why is beer out? Is it because of the carbonation?

I had no trouble with anything carbonated post-surgery and my surgeon didn't seem alarmed by that fact either.

Only problem I have is 1 beer, 2 beer ... floor lol

My surgeon says no alcohol for 1 year post op, so I haven't tried it yet, but from what I understand, wine is ok, and a lot of people do vodka and crystal light.

i tend to do red wine now though do be careful. i would wait a bit longer before drinking just in case it ends up being addictive. i rarely drank before surgery but when i drank after surgery, i became addicted. luckily i was able to stop it before it became a permanent problem. i still drink from time to time but it is not a need anymore thank god!

i was told no beer for a year. when i had some jello shooters with vodka and rum, my doc wasnt exactly happy. plus i think i was still drunk when i woke up at like 2pm the next day! hehe

Lap Band on 09/11/09

Vodka and crystal light (that's my hangover talking to you all today!!) My drink of choice in and out! They look at you weird when you go to the bar and order a vodka with water but hey..i paid the same and you got the same tip. I never leave home without my packets!

Mind you I have a CHEAP bar bill....3 is my max ...(shhh Nessa, that night didn't count...I had 4 but they were terrible weak and I didnt even have a buzz and I had the birthday excuse!!!)

Now that I am low carbing and counting...I also count my alcohol in my food logs.

I also do the vodka and Crystal Light. I recently found Ocean Spray has cranberry juice packets that are sugar-free. Makes a perfect vodka and cranberry! Just be careful, I'm also a very very cheap drunk, but it doesn't last nearly as long as it did pre-op.
