stressing
A couple of people replied to your Dr. Schweitzer thread answering this already. It appears that the general consensus is that he hasn't required us to lose a set amount of weight ahead of time. However, that could vary person to person depending on BMI and amount of weight needing to be lost. On the one hand, there's no need to stress before you've even seen him. On the other hand, it's good for you and you're body to do what you can prior to surgery to take some weight off. I wouldn't stop dieting based on other people's experience...in my opinion.
Pre-surgery can be very stressful. I kept gaining weight and feared if I gained too much, the insurance company would reject me, but it all turned out. If push comes to shove, you could always do the meal replacement shakes to drop a quick 5 pounds. Try not to stress (I know easier said than done - lol) but put your time to reading as much information as you can to be fully prepared for your new, healthy lifestyle! Good luck.
Dr. Schweitzer never asked me to lose weight and in fact in the 6 months it took for me to get insurance approval and such I gained 10 lbs. I absolutely love the guy. I had taken part in a clincial trial of an experimental implant and went to him after the original surgeon basically only left me the option of an RNY because he did not perform the VSG. My original surgeon made me feel as if I had failed. Dr. Schweitzer never once made me feel bad about me. He is not overly warm initally but he never rushed my husband or I and always answered every question we had no matter how silly it may have seemed. He is very straight forward and I appreciate that. Good luck and know you are in great hands.
