Before - 304 pounds

and today...220 pounds

I'm six months out from surgery today and as of this morning I'm an official member of the century club.  I've lost 101 pounds from my highest weight back in April 2009 when I joined Dr. McKenna's program, and down 84 pounds from my surgery date.  I could those 17 pounds lost in Dr. McKenna's pre-op program!  I worked hard for them.

My BMI has gone from 55.1 to 37.8.  I'm no longer morbidly obese.  I have lost a total of 55 inches from my body!  I have achieved so many goals:

1.  My diabetes is in remission - no more diabetes meds
2.  My high blood pressure is gone!
3.  My cholesterol is 105 total and my good cholesterol is 42!
4.  I can shop and buy off the rack - no more Lane Gyant!  I'm solidly in 18 pants and XL tops.
5.  I'm active!  I work out 4 - 5 days a week a the gym and I completed a 10K (walking).
6.  Sleep Apnea - gone
7.  I can play on the floor with my grandkids!
8.  I can tuck in my shirt!
9.  I can cross my legs!
10.  No more heart pills!  My cardiologist is over the moon!

Next goal - fly without  a seatbelt extender.  I find out about that one on May 26th.  Then its Salsa dancing lessons with my husband!

I am healthier than I have ever been in my entire life.  My RNY has been the tool that has helped to save my life.

So, if you ask me what I'm greatful for today...here it is...in black and white!  I'm alive!  I'm healthy!  I'm ready for the next six months!

Bernice:

Awesome list of accomplishments - you are certainly rocking that tool.  I know the joy and sense of pride you must be feeling about all of it.  Congratulations and may the next 6 months be as successful as the past six have been.

P.S.  I most certainly count the pre-op weight loss too - we did work hard for those pounds too!

Congrats Bernice!  What a list of accomplishments.

It seems we are pretty much on the exact same track as far as starting weight and weight lost!  How funny is that???  Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my cholesterol down.  I never really had cholesterol problems; but I would think that losing 106 pounds would reduce it somewhat.
