White rice is very high in carbs,  I think you best bet is proteins(lean chix, fish) and vegatables.  Also starting walking at least 30 minutes a day if you can.   Good luck.

NO!!!!  White rice is absolutey NOT okay to eat.  It's full of carbs, which will QUICKLY turn to sugar.

What you should do is contact Dr. Steele's nutritionist and get some suggestions, guidelines, etc.  Barring that, you should focus on protein - lean meats, fish, eggs, skim milk and low carb veggies and fruits.  Stay away from refined carbs - anything made with white flour or sugar and lean toward complex carbs - whole grains, fruits, veggies, etc.  Refined carbs (like the white rice) quickly turn to sugar in your body while complex carbs are better absorbed by your body for energy.  Shoot for low carb, low sugar, low sugar alcohol if you do any protein drinks or bars.

Make sure you're drinking at least 64 oz. of water a day and as Linda suggested, try to get in 30 minutes of walking.

Good luck,

Tia
