Resting and Recovery - Goodbye Green Monster!!!

Well I came home Saturday from the hospital after my gall bladder removal.  I am up an about much easier than when I had my band but still have discomfort and get tired easily.

I have this nifty thing called On-Q which is a pain pump that administers a local anesthetic for 5 days to help with recovery.  I LOVE IT and I think it''s the reason I can move around easier.

The weekend however was not without drama of course.  Some of you may remember in many previous posts long ago the family issues i always encounter and of course this weekend was no different.  It was actually worse than when I had my band.  I guess if there is a next time for anything..port replacement or plastics or whatever, I just need to make difference arrangements.  It wasn't a good way to start recovering but I'm in peace now....at home...in the bed curled up with my babies and pain meds at arms reach.  Got my TV and my fan and my laptop and im all set.

On another note something beyond crazy..so the 3 ER visits including 2 ultra sounds, 1 CT SCAN, 1 HIDA SCAN, 1 MRCP/MRI, and 1 Upper Endoscopy, they found ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with my call bladder! Low and behold after it was removed, it was disected and in fact DISEASED!  They told me it was filled with sludge....you would think with modern technology one of those test would have picked that up but no.  So my advice to anyone when you know something is wrong, be persistant and insistant on your treatment.  Crazy huh?

Well no more ER visits I'm assuming and hoping to get back on track with my WL after my recovering.  I'd like to start a swimming program or some water aerobics or something.  I like the water and need to get motivated to exercise.  Also need to start making better choiced with eating but since my band was unfilled before surgery I am able to get things down so hopefully now I plan to have a normal meal, be satisifed and get off this junk food an grazing kick.

I'll be around all week and when I am feeling better we need to plan a diner night and I will bring my butt to Pasadena!!!!

Hope you all are well.

Nikki, thanks for the update. I am glad you are doing well and so sorry about the drama. I think all families have some drama. Take care of yourself and I would love to see you in Pasadena one day.

It is really crazy how with all the modern medicine we have that something is able to be missed.

Get some rest and take care.

Welcome home - home, Nikki!  Glad the surgery went well and that you're home now and at peace. (I can totally relate to family drama!)

Heal now and worry about the band later.  Do you have any Unjury or good whey protein? It'll help you heal faster (and get some low carb high protein in you as well!)

Keep us posted how you're doing!  A few of us were talking about doing a Howard or Montgomery County meet up as well.  Let me know if you're interested!

Also, we have a post op group that meets during the WLS Info Sessions at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.  Currently the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month (but that maybe changing in June).  You don't have to be a HCH patient to join us!  (If you're already a member, sorry! Not everyone uses the same user name/id as I do.)

Mitzi I would definitely be interested in a Montgomery County group as well as the Holy Cross group.  Right now I dont have any local support groups that I attend and have not since my surgery almost 8 months ago.

Please PM the details.

Thanks
Nikki

Hi Nikki!  Glad to hear you are on the mend and doing well!  I had my GB removed on Thursday afternoon...it was scheduled though.  Nonetheless, it was no fun!  Hope your recovery goes well!! Take care!

I'm so glad to hear everything went well and you're resting comfortably. I had an On-Q pump after my RNY...those things work wonders! I also need to kick my butt in gear with exercising more regularly. Maybe when you're feeling better we can do an exercise challenge or some type of daily thread. I need the accountability. Rest up, girly! :)

OMG Brandi I wish I had the On-Q after my band.  I was in misery.  Im up and about much easier with this pump!  I hope everyone gets it now or asks for it!  It's great!

Yes after I am done recovering and get back on maybe we can start an MD board Challenge or some daily support thing.

Off to bed and meds shortly.
