Sleeve approval
Well I heard from the insurance coordinator from G.W. Hospital and I was approved for my sleeve finally the surgery I wanted in the first place. The only thing is I had x-rays taken on Monday and it still shows some scar tissue that is present so the doc and I agreed to move the surgery to July 5th hopefully for right now. This to me is not a problem because he also prefers I lose a little more weight so that to is not a problem now I can get down to business even though I have been on 2 protein drinks a day with 6 glasses of water and a solid beneficial meal of chicken or fish with a veggie for almost 3 weeks now and dropped 11 pounds. I am totally fine with postponing it 2 months extra. So now it is down to walking and drinking alot of water.
Hey there! Mind if I ask what happened to your band? Im considering a revision...most likely RNY. The band just isnt cutting it for me.
Im going to try to stick with my dr, but I went it to speak with him and he seems to want to send me to a bariatric doctor to try pills or something. I go for a UGI and blood work in the morning and I'll be back for the results on the 10th of May. Im hoping he will at least consider a revision...I didnt have surgery, self pay at that to struggle SO much.
Good Luck to you! July will be here and we'll be sweating to death before you know it!!

Oh wow. Did you know early on though that something was wrong? I'm just asking because I do worry a little about this. When I had my csection my body rejected the internal stitches and pushed them out through my incision. I told my surgeon about this and wondered if my body would do the same with the band but he said it was very rare. I was just wondering what the early signs might be.
Hi Kath,
My early signs only showed up 2 weeks before it actually came out. It just started turning red on the edge of it and I noticed the skin was getting really thin, I then knew with me having worked in numerous hospitals that this situation was not good so my appointment to my surgeon ironically was on my surgeversary LOL. but I also did my part by keeping it very clean and free of any infection so that was a plus.

As soon as I sent my post I went and read your blog. Wow, I cant even imagine that port breaking thru the skin. Thank God you didnt have any infections. At least its out now and you have your sleeve to look forward to!
I think Im gonna try doing shakes and one meal a day and see what happens. Im in Calvert and we have a Smoothie King in Prince Frederick. They have the greatest protein drink called the Gladiator. 45 grams protein per serving, low cal and low carb. You can also buy the mix in the store or online.
