Hi Marylanders,

I started my journey wanting the band, I evolved to rny then ds sparked my interest.  After consulting my insurance I found out it is covered!  Yay for me right?  Psych....they mis-spoke....it is not covered.  Self pay is not an option.  So rny is back on!  I am not unhappy per se....but I got excited for nothing.

At least I can have rny....many folk do not have any options.  So I will not complain!

Here's hoping the rest of your journey is smooth!  I love my RNY; hopefully, you won't be disappointed.

Good luck!

RNY has been absolutely wonderful for me.  No meds, down 80.8 pounds, and loving life!  Good luck, I know you'll be happy with your RNY.  Follow the rules and you'll be successful.

if you really want the DS I can point you in the right direction of folks that can help you file a grievance with your insurance Company so you can get it.

I agree, you should appeal with your insurance company!  Worth a try, right?

I too thought I'd have to settle for a surgery I didn't want to have because I was told my insurance didn't cover the VSG. I went through my 6 month WLS program and tests, waited for my surgery approval, then waited a couple more weeks for my consult with the surgeon.  Then during my first consult with my surgeon he told me the insurance company had only weeks before approved the VSG!

Ok, so I didn't appeal... but my point is sometimes things do go our way!

Best wishes to you on your weight loss journey!
