Can't believe I'm only two weeks away from getting my surgery. I'm nervous and excited at the same time! It feels like it is taking forever since this is all I can think about. I have my class tomorrow with the team to discuss life after surgery. My friend and I are getting different type surgeries but are going to the same Dr. She is getting hers a week before me. Wish we could have gotten it done on the same day. My hubby will be there with me though.

Congrats!!!  I know your emotions are all over the place - it's normal.  At your class, DVR's staff will give you your WLS Bible - learn it!!!  After a while, it'll all become second nature and a way of life for you.

That's great that your friend is having surgery also - you'll be able to help each other so much.  And your hubby's support will be invaluable, as well the insight and knowledge gained from the board.

You're in good hands - you picked a GREAT doctor!!

Hugs,

Tia

THANKS EVERYONE!!

There are actually 4 of us that are getting surgery. 2 of us are getting the VSG ( one had hers on 4/2) one gastric bypass and one lapband. They are getting their surgery next Tuesday and I am getting my VSG the following Tuesday. We all went to High School together and communicate on a daily basis. We have our own little support group!

Take care!

Welcome Vibris!  It's wonderful that you will have a support group, and that there are three different surgery choices among friends.  Best of luck with surgery, and I look forward to seeing you here often.

That is wonderful - a support group of best friends all going through this together!  Plus don't forget... we're here for you too!!!  BTW, are your friends OH members as well?

You know I recently saw a Lifetime movie about similar BFFs... they made a weight loss pact, only one resorted to WLS (her friends were very supportive of her choice for surgery as she was the heaviest and her character had struggled with dieting all her life - sound familiar?) but at least it was a favorable movie about different ways to lose weight and the support that helps us get to goal.   Of course the main character (not the one with WLS) was an editor and wrote a book about beauty under a pseudoynm and got famous but played the elusive writer until she had to attend this gala by the publishers and fell in love with the head of the company.  (It was a  Lifetime movie remember?)  Anyway, I digress!

Keep us posted how you're doing and any questions you may have!  Best wishes for a successful and uneventful surgery and speedy recovery!

Get Ready, Get Ready, Get Ready!!! I kind of have the same thing with some of my co workers. Most are already on the looser's bench workin on a year or two. I kept dragging my feet. Then there are two I got on board to do the wls as well. It's wonderful to have a support system even if it's nothing but like the Movie Mitzi is speaking of. Someone overweight who has struggled with weightloss and is willing 200% to support you!!!! Makes you feel great!

I want to have a WLS social gathering one day with old and new friends who have gone thru this process!!!

Anywho I am so excited for you. Do you have to do a liquid diet? If so does it start tomorrow?
I am right behind you by a week!
