FRIDAY'S GRATEFULS

Good morning!  Long time, no see!  Although I'd decided to pull back from this board a bit, I received a very nice PM from someone last week telling me that some of my posts, and in particular, the Feed Bag, helped them a lot.  And that's what the purpose of this board is, right?  So thank you!  Given everything going on in my life, I still may not be here as often, but I'll not let negativity keep me from a board that's given so much to me.

My Dad is doing well.  He came home from the hospital on Saturday, but unfortunately, ended up back there on Tuesday, having developed some breathing and bp issues after his regular dialysis treatment.  He came home Wednesday night and had a long day of dialysis yesterday - 3x a week, 3-4 hours a session.  He has some phenomenal doctors and nurses who have made me feel like he is their only patient - and have offered their support and guidance to Mom and me, as well.  As of this a.m., he feels pretty good.  Still tired, of course, but very lucky that he's had relatively little pain - considering he has an 8" surgical incision and a smaller incision from the chest tubes, that's a good thing.

He has some shortness of breath, but that's to be expected considering they took out a lobe of his right lung.  His dialysis is going well, the staff at Porter Dialysis is incomparable.

Mom's doing well, too - she cut her hand on Easter, and had to get some stitches, but they're out and she's healing nicely.  I laughingly told her she was jealous of the attention Dad was getting.

As for me, things are okay.  Sean and I have been together now for two and a half months, and he's been a big emotional support to me - in addition to taking me out for beer!!!  LOL  And it goes without saying that my circle of friends has helped me exist - what would I do without them?  My bosses have been incredibly supportive and have allowed me to take off as much time as necessary to deal with everything at home.  I'm a lucky girl!

I'm hoping for a quiet weekend for us, and hope that all of YOU have a great weekend, as well!

Hugs and thanks to all who have contacted us with your love, support and friendship,

Tia

Hi Tia,

Thank goodness things are moving forward in a good way.  I'm so glad to hear your Dad is doing well through this.  You are such a trooper, always jumping in and taking care of everyone else.  PLEASE take some time for yourself this weekend.  You so deserve it!  Thanks for keeping us informed.  Everyone remains in my prayers.

Hugs!

Terri

Hey Tia.
Glad to hear that things are turning around.  Enjoy doing nothing this weekend.  We all need to do nothing sometimes just for sanity sake. Been thinking of you!

Thanks, Karen!  I seriously thought I'd lose my mind for a bit - things ARE better now, and will be even better when I can get some restful sleep.

Hugs,

Morning all:

Have a lot to be grateful for myself!

My surgery last week has not wiped me out -  I'm up and about and running around!

So glad your Dad is doing better!  and that you've got a hopefully restfull weekend coming
up Tia.

As for me I'm grateful for my family ( even if they drive me nuts at times) and friends
who have kept me laughing with emails!

Hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful weekend!

Tia,

I am grateful that it is the end of the week.  However,  I most grateful that  there are so many wonderful people like yourself with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share here at on the forum.

It's great to here your dad is a little better this week.   It will take time for him  to heal.  It take the elderly a while long to recovery when they have surgeries or illness.  In addition, dialysis just wipes you out.

Have a great week end, and now that I am approved for surgery (no date yet) I looking forward to your daily posts.
