Psych evaluation ??

I called to inquire about a psych evaluation today, and the woman told me she charges $600 and does not go through insurance!!  My mouth completely dropped.  Does anyone know of any psycologists/psyciatry around Montgomery/Howard county that takes Carefirst??  Or atleast someone cheaper!

you can call carefirst or go through their website and try to get someone. you could also ask your pcp or surgeron. 600 seems a bit much for an eval though.

Cindy - I'd call Carefirst.  I have them, and they did not cover a psych evaluation for bariatric surgery at all - but your plan could be a little different.  I only paid $250 out of pocket for it.  Hey, at least I could deduct it from my taxes.

$600 is way too much.

My WLS doctor suggestted someone, and she charge $175 and i thoought that was a lot so I went on my ins co website, and they charged me $75. Call your docotor first!!
