Well:

I just got a call from my Dr. and it looks like because of my mental health history, I am not a good candidate for surgery.  I am really disappointed but I guess there is no option for me.  Good luck guys!

((((((Christine)))))))

I am so sorry to hear that.  Is there anyway to try sometime in the future again?
I have no advice to offer but I wanted you to know that I hope that everything works out for you in the long run.

Wishing you all the best.

honestly, i don't know what the issue is.  the doctor made the determination not my insurance company.  my mental illness will not ever go away.  it is part of who i am.  what is bothering me is that i went through 2 procedures before he looked at my file and wondered about my mental health history.  i feel like the rug was pulled from under me..

that doesnt sound right.

i had an issue as well, but it is controlled by the medicine im taking, and i passed  my psyc eval. my doc said it was all good.

unless the doc feels your not doing the surgery for the right reasons, which only you and him can answer, if its a medical nessessity you should get it.

maybe its time to find a new primary care doc?

just my opinion...

this is the bariatric surgeoun telling me this.  i hadnt even gotten to my PCP--who i am sure will have no issue since we discussed it.  given that he put me through the ringer with getting a colonoscopy and and upper GI done because of my mother and sister's GI issues, i would think he would have just asked more pointed questions.  this doesnt make sense and currently is ticking me off.

can you talk to a different doctor.  heck I've had several psych hospitalizations.  I have severe unmedicated ADHD, I've struggled with depression...   I know plenty of folks with issues that get the surgery....

i will revisit a previous physician and consider your doctor as well.  the way i feel is that if i can carry and successfully raise children--and THAT is a whole lotta lifestyle change--make a plan for how i deal with my depression/bipolar etc pre and post partum, then i can deal with a surgery.  i will even get a lap band since that option provide more graduate results.  but to out right say no..not working for me right now.

i will do some additional research and see if there is someone who will accomodate me.

for those that went with dr. von reuden, what was the cost of his program fee?
