2 week Dr Visit

I had my 2 week Dr visit on the 8th and it showed I lost 17 lbs already from the time I had my pre op appt to my 2 week post op appt.
I actually had to go buy a new bra..........LOL   The girls kept trying to sneak out the bottom, so I figured it was time!!!!
Now all of the sudden, I feel like I am starving to death.........I am fine while I am at work and eat very reasonably, but once I get home and eat dinner with the family, do the dishes and pick up the house, then I feel like I could eat a whole cow and half a pig......I snack on SF pudding and Almonds cuz I like to suck all the salt off them and then chew them little by little, but I still end up eating about 1/4 cup of them..............we won't mention the candy from the kids easter basket that I ate..........2 pieces, but it was 2 to many.
I don't want to get into my old habits so I had my hubby hide all the "goodies"
Any suggestions for the hunger?????
Thanks everyone
Audra

Kudo's on your weight loss success, Audra!

And I know what you mean about the bra, the 'girls' are the first to go on me... that and my fingers and face.  I've not gone shopping yet though, had some old bras from my yo-yo weight loss before in an little used dresser drawer.  Can't find any slacks though that fit me though! I guess I tossed them or donated them but I don't remember getting rid of all of them?

I had the VSG... but I can empathize your hunger issue. Are you getting your protein and water in?  What are your max guidelines on carbs? Mine is 30 grams or less a day.  If you're eating too much, carbs crave carbs and may be causing more hunger for you.

Best wishes to you on your weight loss journey back to health!

Hello Mitzi,
Thanks for the suggestions about the carbs...........I am averaging about 25 carbs a day right now because I am still on the mushies - its amazing what you can put in a blender these days!!  LOL
I try to stick to under 30 carbs and try to make those "good carbs".
But I must say that one night I totally went off the wagon and actually sucked down a reese cup.........I hated myself after that because that is the kind of thing that helped get me in the habit that helped me gain all the weight.
I do get all my protien in, I get at least 50 grams of protien a day in.
I will have to find a different way to curb my hunger - maybe a walk on treadmill..........
Thanks again doll face.

Yep, I lost in the bra & feet area first.   I try to find something to do to keep my mind off food.  TV has too many food commercials.  Try reading or giving yourself a facial.    If I do break down then I will have either a SF popcycle, 6 almonds, string cheese or a SF pudding.

Hey there,
Thanks for the input.  I have to agree because I am fine at work, fine after I get home, but after the kids go to bed and I get my 45minutes of MY time, all I think about is food.
And what am I doing for "MY" time, you might ask????   Watching TV!!!  LOL
I will try something different tonight.
Take care and thanks again

hmm... i know with  RNY that the hunger is "head hunger"  not actual hunger.  I don't know if it's the same with the band.

I know that Candy is a great Bandster and she can probably really help you out....

I know for me that at 2 weeks out I was still healing... my nerves were cut and any 'hunger' I had was in my head.  I sucked on sf ice pops....

Hey Nessa...........
Wow girl, you look great in your new avatar!!!
I do think a lot of it is Head Hunger because I am just now starting to concentrate on my "full" feeling and when I relax, I don't feel full.
I havent tried the ice pops yet and that is a great idea.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I have to second what Nessa said, although one thing I find when I am in those head hunger places is if I get up and do something, it usually passes or if I am really struggling drinking water, or crystal light usually helps me get through the craving.  Hope that helps some.  Good luck!

Hello Russell,
I will also have to try the crystal light and also the popcicles, or I could just go to bed........the extra sleep would also do me some good...........LOL
Thanks and I will let everyone know how it goes tonight.
I just really need to find my will power for one hour a night............Ive gotten through worse, I will just need to be strong.
Take care

Hi Audra,

As as veteran lapbander, let me tell you:  It's normal.  The only restriction you have right now is what little swelling you have, if any, from the surgery.  You will not feel restriction until you get a good fill level.  I know it sucks because you've had the surgery and you feel like it should give you an instantaneous result.  I think two things are happening for you:  You are likely suffering from head hunger because, like all of us, eating at night was a thing you used to do, and you may need to up your fluid intake.  Also, how much protein are you consuming?  A protein shake at night might help as well.  Try to hang in there until you get your first fill.  You will feel a difference.  You may or may not have optimal restriction with your first fill, but I promise you, it will make a difference.
