GREAT NEWS!! DAD UPDATE!!
Hi everyone! Thank you SO much for all your prayers, support and well wishes. Dad's surgery started about 8:15 or so and was expected to take 2.5-3 hours. It was over in 2, and Dr. Harley was beaming when he came out. They got the cancer and the lymph nodes were clear. Of course, samples will be sent out for pathology, but right now, all is good.
We saw Dad about an hour ago - understandably, he looked bad and was in pain, but they'll have him up walking around tonight. Dr. H. doesn't believe in his patients languishing about.
Dad'll be in ICU for a few days - Dr. H. likes his patients there, and given all of Dad's other issues, it's the right place for him to be. We're HOPING he'll be home by Saturday. For anyone who didn't know, within the last two weeks, Dad also had to start kidney dialysis, so it was a double whammy for him. He's done exceptionally well on dialysis, though, so we're hoping to see continued improvement now.
This has been a heck of a couple of months, but hopefully, we're seeing the upside now.
