hey guys,

i had an ultrasound last week and found out i had gallstones, and i had a HIDA scan today. my gallbladder didnt show up on the scan! (indicates major blockage) and my surgeon called me within an hour saying that my gallbladder needs to be removed.

my question(s) is (are)

recovery? problems after surgery? anyone who had this done have any major complications?

thanks!

No problems, no complications. I was home the next day and needed 3 days for recovery.

No biggie. Had mine out  and was up and out of the house in 2 days. No complications what so ever. Good luck I think this will be easy compared to WLS.

My experience was the same as the others. It was outpatient surgery, I was sore for a couple days, and then totally back to normal. It was a piece of (sugar-free) cake!

You are going to do great with the technology these days you will be up and around in a couple of days. I wish mine didn't give out on me December 1993 cause it was not pretty.

Now I am sure that they will do it laparascopic and you will recover quickly.

Best wishes!

Brian,

I had mine out nearly 17 years ago done lap just like the RNY and the only problem I had was the scar tissue it left for my RNY surgery! Soooo you should be fine. As always the first 24-48 may be the hardest. I'll be thinking about you.
