Okay I would be fibbing if I said I was so not nervous! Im SCARED TO DEATH! With that said I have about 14 pounds of loose skin on my stomach and loose skin in my thighs and on my arms. So I have a consult to see Dr Silverman at Univ of Maryland next Thursday for surgery. I am really thinking I can go through with this but I would LOVE to hear some of you share your plastics experience with me. Is it as scary as I hear it is?? I want to get rid of all the extra skin and not for vanity reasons but for my own health. I am in a size 6 jeans now but I have to pull them up over all that loose skin that drives me mental and if that was not there I could wear smaller sizes. When I jog that extra skin sets me mental too!! Not to mention I HATE the way I feel carrying it around. I am at goal weight so I can now get plastics...............if you have been through this PLEASE let me know what you went through and how long it took you to recover. I am anxious yet NERVOUS! I have heard nothing but AMAZING things about Dr Silverman though. THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!

Wow - good luck Jilly! Actually, you should thoroughly review your insurance coverage in addition to this because I have Empire BCBS and turns out that they cover a penniculectomy (stomach skin removal) if you've had gastric bypass surgery. I know we have different insurance but it is both BCBS and ya never know...then part of your surgery might be covered. Now a penniculectomy is just the skin removal, not a tummy tuck which involves manipulation of muscle tissue I believe. I didn't know my insurance covers it but Noel in Dr. K's office found it in my policy!!!

Best of luck to you!!!

Jilly you will be just fine I have no doubt! I just booked my plastics for 5/18 with Dr. Basner in Lutherville/Timonium.  I am so nervous!  I actually checked out 3 different surgeons before deciding on Dr. Basner, you may want to do the same.  While I was certainly looking for the one I was most comfortable with I was also checking out prices. Now I wasn't looking for the cheapest price but that does have to be a consideration.  It turns out Dr. Basner was my favorite one AND the least expensive!  I am doing tummy tuck, breast lift and breast augmentation.

I high recommend getting a consult with more than one surgeon. It really made me feel confident that I was chosing the right one for myself!
