I am scheduling surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview and need to change my surgeon from Kimberley Steele to another.  Of course they are all qualified, but I thought I would ask if anyone has had an exceptional experience with another surgeon at Hopkins or a terrible one?  As you know we can't have enough info. when making this decision.
Thanks in advance to all that reply!

Hi there,

Myself and some of the others on the board had Dr. Michael Schweitzer.  18 months later (on Wednesday) and I am very satisfied...I could not have picked a better surgeon!

Best wishes,
Heather

I had Dr Lidor and had a great experience.  I am 2 years+ out and still don't have any issues with her.  I have to ask - why are you leaving Dr Steele?

I have been going through this process for a year and a half.  Was supposed to have my surgery on Nov 3rd and it was postponed due to a genetic blood issue that i had to get checked out.  I had just about lost all of my required pre-op weight when i found out I was not having the surgery yet.  As you can imagine, no surgery, thanksgiving, Christmas, new year, snow storms..... I am now about 30 lbs. more than she will allow to perform surgery.  I have tried, lost 8lbs.  gained back 5....etc.....  (She is also having a baby and going out on maternity leave at the end of May.)  Anyway i feel like I am doing so many of the right things to get ready for the surgery I just can't loose this 30 pounds.  I am seeing a trainer, taking my vitamins, am attending a monthly support group and have found an arsenal of protein that I like (and hopefully will after surgery.)  I am ready to do this!   Dr. Steele was great and I understand why she wants me to loose the weight I just need the help now.
Dr. Lidor was who Erica (Dr. Steele's office assistant) recommended.
Thanks for your post.

I love Dr. Schweitzer as well.  He certainly isn't the warm and fuzzy type though.  Just a great surgeon (which was the most important thing).  I saw Dr. Lidor once in the hospital and she def. was the warm and fuzzy type (and even commented that Dr. S isn't).  :)

I love Dr Schweitzer. he's not the warm and fuzzy type but an excellent surgeon, which was more important to me.

good luck!
