'Big patient-friendly' doctors around Owings Mills?
Hi everyone!
Nice to meet you all and this is my first post to the group.
I've met w/ Dr. Von Rueden (very nice bariatric surgeon w/ a very nice staff!).
However, I would like to get a primary care physician in the Owings Mills area.
Preferably a physician that is used to dealing w/ 'larger' patients. I hope not to be a 'larger' patient forever, but I'm sure many of you have had to deal w/ 'less than friendly' primary care physicians and I'm hoping to avoid that. ("Yes, I'm all too aware that I'm really fat, but if you REALLY belittle me, that will probably fix a lifetime of weight control issues, so thanks!" - Heh. Yeah, trying to avoid that! :-)
Any thoughts would be appreciated! It doesn't have to be EXACTLY in the Owings Mills area. Heck, I'd be willing to go almost anywhere in the Baltimore area for an intelligent, caring professional!
BTW, I DID ask Dr. Von Rueden, who very kindly provided a few doctors, but unfortunately while they sounded like excellent physicians, they either had moved to specialites (e.g. only endocrinology) or were no longer accepting new patients. He DID try to be helpul though, as is typical for himself and his staff! :-)
Thanks again in advance everybody for your thoughts and I wish all of us good luck in our respective journeys toward weight management and better health! :-)

Hi and welcome!!! My Primary Care Physician is Dr. Douglas Pinto in Seton Medical Group (St. Agnes). He's on Benson Road right near St. Agnes in Baltimore. His contact # is (410) 368-8460. He is very patient, and he LISTENS when I tell him what's up. He does not dismiss my medical issues because I am obese and he supports my decision to have weight loss surgery 100%. He also has many patients who are post op WLS and is familiar with treating them. The follow-up with his staff is awesome. It feels very personal. Since I've been his patient I have moved to southern Anne Arundel County Maryland and I work in DC and I STILL travel to him. Best of luck to you!!!
I have been a patient of Dr Mini Panikar, who is part of Clinical Associates, 750 Main St Reisterstown MD. 12 years plus, She is good, easy to deal with once you are a patient. I can get referals with a phone call,, ect ect ect. She is pretty busy, and you have to deal with going through the front desk,,, but that is everywhere now.
Dr Averbach and Dr signh used to share the same office,,, and Dr Panikar recommended them.

I use Owings Mills Internal Medicine. It's in Crossroads. My doctor is named Dr. Bailowitz, but there are other doctors that are helpful as well. I like the fact that they have a lab on site so I don't have to go anywhere to get blood drawn. It's a one stop shop. My doctor is actually leaving, but she said she's not going too far away. She is the one that recommended I look into surgery and has had a number of patients that have gone through it.
Owings Mills Internal Medicine's number is 410-363-4900
Dr. Gitter w/Garber and associates is in the Woodholme Shopping center and he's the best. He was my PCP for a while when he had his own practice, then he was at Mercy and I recently found out he is w/Dr. Garber and associates and I can't wait to go back to him. He's the type of doctor that really takes his time and is very complete in all his visits. He still remembers me from a few years ago. He has trouble running on time w/his appointments because he takes his time with his patients though... =o)
I see Dr Usha with Seton Medical Group... She is in the same building as DVR...
She is WLS friendly and helped me get my approval - I started seeing her between finishing my 6 month diet with my PCP and having surgery because my PCP left her practice and I did not like the replacement doctor.
I love Dr. Usha! She is very open and tells you like it is - and will fight battles to get you what you need done! When I was in St. Agnes after WLS and fighting for 16 hours for oral pain meds after surgery, she answered her cell phone (She shares that number with all patients) and called the nurses on duty and the interns to find out what the hold ups were, etc. since we were getting no answers... Not every doctor gives out their personal cells, etc. She also took the time to visit me at St. Agnes although she does not regularly do rounds...
Her number is 410-368-8750 and she is quick to get you in if you need an appointment...
