Thanks!  I've told my mom and sister but not my dad and brother. My mom thinks (and I agree with her) that it would be more appropriate to tell him and his finacee after their wedding. My surgery is two weeks after thir wedding, so if they are going away for two week they are going to find out after. So...mums the word until later in May. I just don't want them to worry at all and they would.

Yay!! Congrats Laura. I schedule my first appointment with Dr. Kligman this morning. I go to see him April 12th. I have a long way to go till I'm in your shoes, but I am still super excited about getting it all started. Wish you the best of luck and look forward to following you in your journey.

Contrary to all my recent bellyaching...it's really not too bad as far as length if you space out your testing. You got an appointment really soon! That's terrific...already you're ahead of the game! Best of luck and like I said if you have any questions, fire away. Are you doing your 6 months with Mary Beth?

Well my insurance co said all i needed was a letter from my pcp saying it was medically nessessary so unless dr. kligman requires it, I'm not doing it if i dont have to. Also I was wondering does he require a certain amount of weight loss before surgery?

Well, you'll need to get that letter before your first visit with him anyway but while you wait for April 12th you could contact Janice Bryant in Dr. Kligman's office. She is the program coordinator and she submits the requests to the insurance company. She knows all the insurance companies very well and she will probably know the clinical nurse with your provider enough to know exactly what you need. Do you have Blue Cross Federal? If if you do then you def won't have to do the 6 months (and you'll get in there quick!) but otherwise Dr. Kligman generally makes people go through the 6 months. Anyway, Janice will know for sure - so she could be helpful for you. As for whether or not he will make you lose weight, I think it depends on the person and your BMI. I have a 48 BMI and I did not have to lose weight, but he did say that some patients do. It's always better to try to lose weight...but I know you know that! :)

Good luck!
