Russel, You are doing great. I am sure you are so happy. My hubby is type 2 diabetic and spends 2 to 3 hours a day at the gym and still can't get his sugar down. He is 35 pounds overweight and has been trying to lose weight with not much success. We want him off all the meds to. It is a pain. Congrats and you are such a kind hubby and dad. You are a real gem. Keep up the good work.

Hey Julie - thanks for the kind words - I can relate to your husband's struggles.  I obviously had a lot more than 35 pounds to lose but no matter what I did, what meds I took, I couldnt control the blood sugars.  there were days when I literally was thrilled with a fasting reading of 185.  I can't tell you how wonderful it is not to worry about that any more.

I will keep your hubby's struggles in my thoughts.

Thanks Russel you are so kind. I hope his numbers will come down they are always high in the morning. He is taking Byetta and glucophage and prandin. I will be glad when he can stop them. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Excellent Job!  And I count my pre-op weightloss too - I worked hard for those 17 pounds!

Isn't it great being off all meds?  I get excited every morning when I check my blood sugar and its consistently normal - and under 100!  For years, I was over 200 even on 5 shots a day.

And, um, you wanna come to my house?  I need some mulching done.
