Therapist in Anne Arundel Co. that deals with obesity issues?

Hi all,

I am looking to get some names of some therapists (no specific designation) who specialize in weight related issues. Preferably in Anne Arundel County. I know about Andrew Whalen. I am trying to find someone who takes my insurance. I have a list of providers, but it does not indicate specialties, so I was hoping you could recommend someone. At the very least, someone kind, good at his/her job and you feel would be able to assist in this regard. I have seen a couple of therapists around the area and I'm not saying that a naturally thin person can't understand some of the depression associated with obesity, but...I kinda am...if ya know what I mean...and I'm sure you do. I don't need "advice on how I should exercise more and eat less". I have many many doctors for that. I just need someone who will listen to me talk about how I feel about it and help me discover constructive ways to to cope with those emotions.

She's not in your county but Ranesa McNally is wonderful -  She is over on Old Court Road
and totally gets us WLS people -  she's had it herself!

Hey Laura - I used to go to Karen Street in Crofton.  She was really good and helped me in many issues.

I totally agree with Darla  Ranesa McNally is awesome with WLS and body image and weight related issues.

but of course my dear. here is info about her. she is part of hearts gate wellness center. i've been seeing her for like 9 years now. yea i know i'm pretty ef'd up LOL. but without her, i would not where i am today. she is a wonderful woman.

I also have a fabulous therapist off of Cromwell Bridge that deals with eating disorders, I have been seeing her since a month before my WLS,  I  JUST, JUST switched from once a week, to every other week.  If you want more info(because I could go on and on and.....) just PM me.    Leslie

Hi Laura, I don't know that I can say he specializes in obesity, but Stephen Lescht, is in Severna Park and I highly recommend him, for ANY counseling!  If you see him, please tell him I said, "hi"!
