Stuck!

I think I'm stuck! The scale has not moved since the first of the month! I am working out 2-3 nights a week hard with a personal trainor then doing another pool class for 45 min for a total of 1 hr 45 each night. I don't know if this is just a normal stall or if I'm not taking in enough calories for the amount I'm burning and my body is holding on.  I know even that wont last long but boy is it frustrating!!

It is so frustrating when the scale says the same thing day after day, week after week, month after month, BUT unlike before WLS the scale may not be going down, but it's not going up either!
I really don't know much about RNY, I can tell you when I am in a stall, 99% of the time I have to step up the exercise and way up my protein. I wish you luck, and I promise you, THE SCALE WILL MOVE AGAIN!!!

Kelly, it is totally normal and even more frustrating. I finally broke mine by adding more protein in and upping my calories a tad. You may want to double check with your NUT to see what they recommend, but it won't last forever. Even more, I guarantee you're losing inches even if the scale isn't cooperating. Now's the time to bust out the tape measure. Hang in there!

Same here .... stuck at 214 for about a month despite gym 3 nights a week, walking and step aerobics.  In fact, I even gained a pound or two.  Frustrating to say the least ... what happens now?

Kelly,

Plateaus are completely normal, and completely frustrating. The one thing I did gleen from your post is that it might benefit you to mix up your routine a bit.  The body quickly learns the motions and the muscles become less challenged.  I believe your trainer would agree that even keeping within the same set of exercises but varying their place in the line up helps.

Hang in there Girl!

Well one of many bonus things that have happened since surgery which I forgot to mention while whining was that last night I went to my daughters high school and sat in the auditorium seats and for the first time in a long time I had space between my hips and the sides of the seat which was amazing to me and so unexpected. I'm sure I'll get over this hump its just frustrating but by reading all the posts from those that go before me I expected it.

Hello Kelly,

It is normal to go through plateaus and your body sometimes need time to catch up too.  But many times you have to increase your calorie and protein intake. You definitely have to talk to your nutrionist and trainer so that they can tell you how much calories you need to burn to lose kick start the weightloss.

The good thing is that it is only temporary.  You just have to maximize the amount lost during your honeymoon phase.

Good luck!

Hey Kelly, I just got off of a stall myself and when it broke I've been losing a pound a day. Mine was due to too much carb and not enough protein, as I was exercising 3 times a week. I just lowered my carbs and increased my protein and now I'm back on track. Good luck and congrats on you defeating that seat ;)
